''Githopsis diffusa'' is a species of flowering plant in the bellflower family known by the common name San Gabriel bluecup. The stem may have stiff hairs and the leaves are generally small and pointed. The small, solitary flower appearing at the tip of the stem is tubular to funnel-shaped and white or purple with a white throat. Asa Gray
Asa Gray (November 18, 1810 – January 30, 1888) is considered the most important American botanist of the 19th century. His ''Darwiniana'' was considered an important explanation of how religion and science were not necessarily mutually exclusive. Gray was adamant that a genetic connection must exist between all members of a species. Campanulaceae
The family Campanulaceae (also bellflower family), of the order Asterales, contains nearly 2400 species in 84 genera of herbaceous plants, shrubs, and rarely small trees, often with milky sap. Among them are several familiar garden plants belonging to the genera '' Campanula'' (bellflower), ''Lobelia'', and ''Platycodon'' (balloonflower).
