Blaise Gisbert
Blaise Gisbert (21 February 1657 – 21 February 1731) was a French Jesuit rhetorician and critic. Gisbert was born in Cahors. Having entered the Society of Jesus in 1672, he taught the humanities, rhetoric, and philosophy, after which he devoted himself for a long time to preaching. The pleasure which Gisbert took in discussing pulpit eloquence with Nicolas de Lamoignon, the intendant of Languedoc, impelled him to write an essay on sacred eloquence, which he entitled ''Le bon gôut de l'éloquence chrétienne'' (Lyons, 1702). He spent ten years in retouching this essay, and augmented it considerably by adding to the rules examples drawn from Holy Scripture and the Church Fathers, especially St. John Chrysostom. The second edition appeared in Lyons in 1715 under the title ''L'Eloquence chrétienne dans l'idée et dans la pratique''. Antonio Gisbert
Antonio Gisbert Pérez (19 December 1834 – 27 November 1901) was a Spanish artist situated on the cusp between the realist and romantic movements in art. He was known for painting pictures of important events in a country's history in a realistic style, yet clearly with a political aim as well; his variance in styles puts him in the Spanish eclectic school of painters. He generally tried to promote liberal causes in his politics and paintings. Career Gisbert was born in Alcoy on December 19, 1834. He began his artistic studies at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid in 1846, working under José de Madrazo. Gisbert became the Director of the Museo del Prado in Madrid in 1868. He stayed in that position until 1873, when he resigned because of opposition to the new First Spanish Republic. Teresa Gisbert Carbonell de Mesa (30 November 1926 – 19 February 2018) was a Bolivian architect and art historian. She specialized in the history of the Andean region. Biography Teresa Gisbert Carbonell was born on 30 November 1926 in La Paz, Bolivia. Her family emigrated from Spain. She earned a bachelor's degree in arquitecture and urbanism in the Higher University of San Andrés (La Paz) in 1950. After finishing her studies, Teresa Gisbert travelled to Spain, along with her husband José de Mesa, whom she had married in 1950, to complete her graduate studies in art history. De Mesa and Gisbert had four children: Carlos, Andrés, Isabel and Teresa Guiomar. During her staying in Spain, between 1953 and 1962,she served as a researcher at the Laboratory of Art of the University of Seville and at the Diego Velasquez Art Institute. Joan Manuel Gisbert (born 16 October 1949 in Barcelona) is a Spanish writer of children's literature. His books have been translated into ten languages. Because of the untimely death of his father, he started to work early, working with different publishers. He travelled to Paris to study theatre and on his return he published his first book, ''Fantastic Scenarios'' (1979), which won the Award of the CCIS. A year later, his book ''The mystery of the Tökland island'' (1981) got the Lazarillo Award and figured in the Honor Roll Andersen Award. He was compared by the critics with authors like J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis. His next work, ''Thamyris planet legends'' (1982) was declared in 1983 Children's Book of Interest by the Ministry of Culture. Gisbert Johann Eduard Kapp (2 September 1852, Mauer, Vienna – 10 August 1922, Birmingham) was an Austrian-English electrical engineer. Gisbert Wüstholz (born June 4, 1948, in Tuttlingen, Germany) is a German mathematician internationally known for his fundamental contributions to number theory (in the field of transcendental number theory, Diophantine approximation) and arithmetic geometry.
