Giridhar Udupa
Ghatam Giridhar Udupa (born 17 November 1979) ( kn, ಘಟಂ ಗಿರಿಧರ್ ಉಡುಪ) is an Indian percussionist and a leading exponent of the ghatam.Namboodiripad, Narayan - ''A Potful Of Music'' in RAVE Magazine, November 2006, Issue 46. RNI No. KARENG/2002/8229 He is one of the members of Layatharanga, a team of Indian classical musicians who have embarked on the task of blending different forms of classical, folk and world music. Konnakol
Konnakol (also spelled Konokol, Konakkol, Konnakkol) ( ta, கொன்னக்கோல் koṉṉakkōl) ( ml, വായ്ത്താരി) is the art of performing percussion syllables vocally in South Indian Carnatic music. Konnakol is the spoken component of solkattu, which refers to a combination of konnakol syllables spoken while simultaneously counting the tala (meter) with the hand. It is comparable in some respects to '' bol'' in Hindustani music, but allows the composition, performance or communication of rhythms. A similar concept in Hindustani classical music is called padhant. Usage Musicians from a variety of traditions have found konnakol useful in their practice. Ghatam Players
The ghaṭam ( sa, घटं ''ghaṭaṁ'', kan, ಘಟ ''ghaṭah'', ta, கடம் ''ghatam'', te, ఘటం ''ghatam'', ml, ഘടം, ''ghatam'') is a percussion instrument used in various repertoires across India. It's a variant played in Punjab and known as ''gharha'' as it is a part of Punjabi folk traditions. Its analogue in Rajasthan is known as the ''madga'' and ''pani mataqa'' ("water jug"). The ghatam is one of the most ancient percussion instruments of India. It is a clay pot with narrow mouth. From the mouth, it slants outwards to form a ridge. Made mainly of clay baked with brass or copper filings with a small amount of iron filings, the pitch of the ghatam varies according to its size. The pitch can be slightly altered by the application of plasticine clay or water. Karnataka Ganakala Parishat
Karnataka Ganakala Parishat (also Ganakala Parishath) is an annual conference of Carnatic music held in February. The first conference was conducted in the year 1970 under the presidency of Vidwan B.S. Raja Iyengar. Over a period of several days (16 days in 2020), lecture demonstrations are given in the mornings, and four musical performances are given every afternoon and evening. The conference confers the title of "Ganakalabhushana" every year on a veteran musician, and "Ganakalashree" on a young musician. Since 2004, the conference has been presided over by Vidwan R.K. Sudha Ragunathan is an Indian Carnatic vocalist, singer and composer. She was conferred the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1994, Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2015) by the Government of India, and Sangeetha Kalanidhi by Madras Music Academy in 2013. Jayanthi Kumaresh
Jayanthi Kumaresh is an Indian Veena musician. Jayanthi comes from a lineage of musicians who have been practising Carnatic music for six generations and started playing the Saraswati Veena at the age of 3. Her mother, Lalgudi Rajalakshmi, was her first teacher and she later underwent intense training from her maternal aunt, Padmavathy Ananthagopalan. She was also taught by S. Balachander and went on to perform with him as well. She is married to Kumaresh Rajagopalan (b 1967), the younger of the violinist duo Ganesh–Kumaresh. Mysore Manjunath (born in Mysore, India), is an Indian violinist. The son and disciple of violinist Prof. Mahadevappa, Manjunath performed his first concert at the age of eight in Mysore as a child prodigy storming in to the music world.
