Giovanni Manu
Werner "Giovanni" Manu (born January 26, 2001) is a Tongan professional American football offensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played Canadian football in U Sports for the UBC Thunderbirds. Manu was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft. Early life and education Manu was born on January 26, 2001 in Tonga. He moved to British Columbia in Canada to live with an aunt at the age of 11. He entered the Pitt Meadows Secondary School and tried out football soon after. He also played basketball. Career University Manu enrolled at the University of British Columbia in 2018 and redshirted his first year on the UBC Thunderbirds football team. The Vanier Cup (french: Coupe Vanier) is the championship of Canadian university football. It is organized by U Sports football and is currently played between the winners of the Uteck Bowl and the Mitchell Bowl. It is named after Georges Vanier, the former governor general of Canada and was first awarded in 1965 to the winner of an invitational event contested between two teams that were selected by a panel. 2023 CFL Draft
The 2023 CFL National Draft was a selection of National players by Canadian Football League teams that took place on May 2, 2023, at 8:00 pm ET. 72 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA and NAIA. Theo Benedet (born October 12, 2001) is a Canadian professional football offensive tackle for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played U Sports football for the UBC Thunderbirds. Early life Benedet was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. He attended Handsworth Secondary School.
