Giovanni Cernogoraz
Giovanni Cernogoraz (born 27 December 1982) is a Croatian sports shooter. Competing in shotgun events, he won the Olympic gold medal in men's Olympic Trap, trap at the London 2012 Summer Olympics. He was elected for Croatian Sportsman of the year by ''Sportske novosti awards, Sportske novosti'' in 2012. Career Cernogoraz started with the sport at an early age, initially becoming interested in it through hunting. He is a member of the Gord sports club based in Velika Gorica and was named Velika Gorica Sportsman of the Year in 2011. After narrowly missing 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Cernogoraz managed to qualify for 2012 Olympic Games after winning the ISSF World Cup in Beijing in 2011. Velika Gorica (; meaning "Great Vineyard/Forest") is the largest and most populous city in Zagreb County, Croatia. According to the 2011 census the city itself has a population of 31,341, while the municipality has a population of 63,517 inhabitants. Velika Gorica is the centre of the historical Turopolje region. ''Glas Istre'' () is a Croatian regional daily newspaper published in Pula which mainly covers stories of interest from the Istria region in the northwest of the country. Olympic Trap
Olympic Trap is a shooting sport discipline contested at the Olympic Games and sanctioned by the International Shooting Sport Federation. Usually referred to simply as "trap", the discipline is also known in the United States as international trap, bunker trap, trench or international clay pigeon. It is considered more difficult than most other trap versions in that the distance to the targets and the speed with which they are thrown are both greater. Until 1992, the Olympic trap event was open to both men and women. In 1996, it was open to men only, and from 2000 men and women have had separate competitions.
