Giovanni Battista Giustammiani, also called ''il Francesino'' (active 1608 to 1643) was a French- Italian painter active mainly painting sacred subjects in a late- Mannerist style in Siena, Tuscany, Italy. Biography He painted the ''Miracles of Benedictine Saints'' for the sacristy of San Domenico. He also painted a glory of angels for the Sacristy of the Siena Cathedral. He painted an altarpieces depicting the ''Circumcision of Jesus'' for the church of San Raimondo. Greve in Chianti (the old name was Greve; in 1972 it was renamed Greve in Chianti after the inclusion of that area in the Chianti wine district) is a town and ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany, Italy. It is located about south of Florence and north of Siena. San Raimondo (Siena)
San Raimondo, also called San Raimondo al Refugio, is a Baroque style, Roman Catholic church located on the intersection of Via del Refugio and Via di Fiera Vecchia, in the Terzo of Camollia of the city of Siena, region of Tuscany, Italy. The church is dedicated to St Raymond of Pennafort. History The church was commissioned in 1596 in the will of the Sienese noble Aurelio Chigi. The church was adjacent to a conservatory for children of impoverished nobility (nobili decaduto) and thus known as ''di Refugio''. In 1798, an earthquake caused some damage. Siena Cathedral
Siena Cathedral ( it, Duomo di Siena) is a medieval church in Siena, Italy, dedicated from its earliest days as a Roman Catholic Marian church, and now dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
