Giorgos Gasparis
Giorgos Gasparis (alternative spellings: Georgios, Giorgios) ( el, Γιώργος Γάσπαρης; born January 31, 1965, in Greece) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. At a height of , he played at the point guard and shooting guard positions. Professional career Gasparis played with Panionios, Aris, Pagrati, and Irakleio. In 1991, Gasparis scored 20 points (being the Top Scorer) in the Greek Cup final game between Panionios and PAOK, leading Panionios to victory. To date, that is the one and only major title for Panionios. In 1993, Gasparis won the FIBA European Cup (FIBA Saporta Cup), against Efes, while playing with Aris. He was also a Greek Cup finalist the same year. Nea Smyrni
Nea Smyrni ( el, Νέα Σμύρνη, ''Néa Smýrni'', "New Smyrna") is a municipality in South Athens, Greece. At the 2011 census, it had 73,076 inhabitants. The 1991 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1991, was the 27th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship, held by FIBA Europe. It was held in Italy between 24 and 29 June 1991. Eight national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The Palazzo dello Sport in Rome was the hosting venue of the tournament. Yugoslavia won its fifth FIBA European title by defeating hosts Italy with an 88–73 score in the final. Yugoslavia's Toni Kukoč was voted the tournament's MVP.
