Giorgio Cavedon
Giorgio Cavedon (17 December 1930 – 2001) was an Italian publisher, cartoonist and screenwriter. Cavedon was most associated with his adult comics he wrote with Renzo Barbieri. His first comic, ''Isabella (comics), Isabella'' was Italy's first openly erotic ''fumetto''. Cavedon was born on 17 December 1930. Outside his work in comics, Cavedon was also an accomplished musician, being a member of the Milan College Jazz Society and had the desire to become a filmmaker. In 1953 he shot a short documentary on 16mm and the next year his short film ''Arturo'' was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Cavedon would casually return to the film industry in the next few years, including Renato Dall'Ara's assistant on ''Scano Boa'' and directing a part of the anthology comedy film ''I soldi''. His comic ''Isabella'' was published between April 1966 and October 1976 with 263 issues. The catch-all term adult comics typically denotes comic books, comic magazines, comic strips or graphic novels that are marketed either mainly or strictly towards adult (or mature) readers. Renzo Barbieri
Renzo Barbieri (10 March 1940 – 23 September 2007) was an author and editor of Italian comics as well as the founder of the publishing house Edifumetto. In 1980 he wrote ''Il Manuale del Playboy'' (Manual for Playboys), a textbook about where European playboys live, what cars they drive, and other lifestyle tips. Biography The Beginning Barbieri was born in Milan, Italy. In the early 1960s he started collaborating with comics publishers like Editoriale Dardo and Edizioni Alpe. He was also a journalist for the tabloid ''La Notte''. In the mid-1960s, after reading a rather violent White Cartoon French book, he decided to open a publishing house in Milan and developed the idea of "pocket comics", also known as a digest. Isabella (comics)
''Isabella'' ( it, Isabella Duchessa dei Diavoli, i.e. "Isabella Duchess of the Devils") is an Italian comic book series created by Giorgio Cavedon as the writer and Sandro Angiolini as artist. History The series started in 1966 and it was inspired in plot and title by the renowned novel ''Angélique, the Marquise of the Angels'' and its on-screen adaptation, which had had a significant success at the Italian box office. Set in 17th century France, it features the adventures of Isabella de Frissac, an uninhibited noblewoman who works as a secret agent for cardinal Richelieu and, in the course if her missions, faces any sort of vexation and torture. Photo comics are a form of sequential storytelling that uses photographs rather than illustrations for the images, along with the usual comics conventions of narrative text and word balloons containing dialogue. Renato Dall'Ara
Renato Dall'Ara (10 October 1892 in Reggio Emilia – 3 June 1964 in Milan) was an Italian entrepreneur, sports manager, and chairman of Bologna for thirty years. Biography An entrepreneur of modest origins, Dall'Ara went from his native Reggio Emilia to Bologna, starting a thriving knitwear company that made him wealthy. In 1934, he was appointed as president of football club Bologna. Bruno Corbucci
Bruno Corbucci (23 October 1931 – 7 September 1996) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. He was the younger brother of Sergio Corbucci, and wrote many of his films. He was born in Rome, where he also died. The vast majority of his directorial efforts are lowbrow comedies. He also directed ''I figli del leopardo'', a parody of ''Il gattopardo''. His biggest success came with the long-running "Nico Giraldi" series, which starred Tomas Milian as a foul-mouthed Roman policeman. Lucifera is an anti-heroine of the eponymous 1970s Italian comic book, published between 1971 and 1980 by Ediperiodici. The series, along with more well-known series of the era like ''Isabella'' and ''Goldrake'', is among those created by Renzo Barbieri and Giorgio Cavedon, published between the late sixties and early seventies. The series led to the birth and development of the Italian erotic genre. Publication history The ''Lucifera'' comic book was published by Ediperiodici and ran for 170 issues from 1971 to 1980. ''Ombre'' () is a 1980 Italian horror film directed and written by Giorgio Cavedon. Production Although best known for his erotic ''fumetto'' comic series ''Isabella'', director and screenwriter Giorgio Cavedon had worked in the film industry making a documentary in 1953 and having some credits in the early 1960s films including directing part of the Italian comedy anthology film ''I soldi''. Cavedon began work on ''Ombre'' on July 9, 1979. It was filmed on location in Milan and at Icet-De Paolis Studios in Milan. It was originally developed under the working titles ''Autoritratto'' () and ''Ritratto di fantasma'' (). Some sources have stated that Mario Caiano was a co-director on the film. Caiano has never mentioned working on the film and actor Lou Castel stated that Cavedon was the film's only director.
