Giora Antman
Giora Antman ( he, גיורא אנטמן; born 15 November 1962) is a former Israeli football player and currently the goalkeeping coach at Maccabi Haifa. Antman was the goalkeeping coach at Maccabi Haifa for 18 years until he was replaced in 2012 by Avi Peretz. After just one season with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Antman returned to his familiar role as goalkeeping coach for Maccabi Haifa in June 2013. Giora Bernstein
Giora Bernstein (born 1933) is a conductor, classical violinist, and Professor Emeritus of Music at the University of Colorado.International Leo Kestenberg Society He was the founder of the Colorado Music Festival and its Artistic Director for 24 years. Biography Giora Bernstein was born in Vienna in 1933 and emigrated to Palestine (now Israel) in 1938, arriving there in 1939. He began his music education in Israel, where he studied violin from 1953 to 1955 at the Tel Aviv Music Academy, as well as music history with Leo Kestenberg. In 1955, he went to the United States, where he studied violin with Edouard Dethier at the Juilliard School, and later received a Master of Fine Arts in composition from Brandeis University. He went on to study for his Doctorate in Music at Boston University, graduating in 1967. His PhD thesis was on the influence of oriental music idioms on Israeli contemporary music. Giora Eiland ( he, גיורא איילנד; born 1952 in moshav Kfar Hess) is Aluf, Major General (ret.) Israel Defense Forces. Eiland is a former head of the Israeli National Security Council (Israel), National Security Council. After his retirement from the public sector, he was a senior research associate at the Institute for National Security Studies (Institute for National Security Studies (Israel), INSS). Brigadier General Giora "Hawkeye" Epstein ( he, גיורא אפשטיין; born May 20, 1938), today Giora Even ( he, גיורא אבן), is a retired brigadier General in the Israeli Air Force (IAF) and a fighter ace credited with 17 victories, 16 against Egyptian jets and one against an Egyptian Mi-8 helicopter, making Epstein the ace of aces of supersonic fighter jets and of the Israeli Air Force. Epstein was an active IAF pilot from 1961 until May 26, 1997, when he retired at age 59. Like many retired IAF flyers, he later worked as a pilot for El Al Airlines. Giora Feidman ( he, גיורא פיידמן; born 25 March 1936) is an Argentine-born Israeli clarinetist who specializes in klezmer music. Biography Giora Feidman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where his Bessarabian Jewish parents immigrated to escape persecution. Feidman comes from a family of klezmer musicians. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather made music for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and holiday celebrations in the shtetls of Eastern Europe. Feidman married Ora Bat-Chaim, his personal manager, in 1975. Music career Feidman began his career in Buenos Aires as a member of the Teatro Colón Symphony Orchestra. Giora Godik (1921–1977) was a Polish-born Jewish Israeli theater producer and impresario, famous for bringing musical comedies to Israel. Called the "King of musicals," the 2007 film documentary, " Waiting for Godik", tells the story of his rise and fall from one of the most "legendary" theater figures in Israel—someone who "endeavored...to bring the American dream to Tel Aviv", to someone destitute, who hit bottom. He "skyrocketed to the top and plummeted to the lowest depths." Giora Leshem (born Moshe Giora Rotstein, he, גיורא לשם; February 3, 1940– March 14, 2011(Hebrew/ref>) was an Israeli poet and translator and one of the founders of the Keshev poetry publishing house. At the time of his death, Keshev was the largest independent book publisher in Israel. Leshem has two half siblings named Dorit and Yoram Leshem. Giora Romm
Giora Romm ( he, גיורא רום, born 1945) is a former deputy commander of the Israeli Air Force (IAF), Israel's former military attaché in the United States and the current director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel. Romm was the Israeli Air Force's first jet ace, scoring five kills during the 1967 Six-Day War. In 1969, during the War of Attrition, Romm was shot down and spent several months in Egyptian captivity. He commanded the IAF's 115 Squadron through the intensive fighting of the 1973 Yom Kippur War and participated in Operation Wooden Leg, the 1985 raid against PLO headquarters in Tunisia. Giora Schmidt (pronounced ghee-OH-rah) is an American/Israeli violinist. Biography Giora Schmidt was born into a family of musicians in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents emigrated from Israel in 1978, and played with the Philadelphia Opera Company Orchestra. His mother, Michal Schmidt is a cellist and pianist and is on the faculty of Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges and the University of Pennsylvania. His father, Dov Schmidt, is a violinist and businessman. Schmidt began his violin studies at the age of four, and by 12 was commuting between Philadelphia and New York to study with Patinka Kopec and Pinchas Zukerman at the Manhattan School of Music. Giora Spiegel ( he, גיורא שפיגל), (born July 27, 1947) is an Israeli former footballer and coach. As a footballer, he holds the record for the longest Israeli international career, spanning 14 years and 357 days. Biography Born in Petah Tikva, Giora Spiegel is the son of Eliezer Spiegel, who played for Maccabi Petah Tikva and the Israel national team. He is Jewish. Dr Giora Yoseftal ( he, גיורא יוספטל; 9 August 1912 – 23 August 1962) was an Israeli politician who held several ministerial portfolios in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Biography Born Georg Josephthal in Nuremberg in Germany, Yoseftal was a member of the Yiddisher Yudenbund youth movement in his teens. After high school he studied law and economics at the University of Heidelberg, Berlin, Munich and Basel, gaining a PhD in jurisprudence at the latter. In 1932, he joined Habonim, and the following year was appointed head of the youth department of the Bavarian Jewish community. He moved to Berlin in 1934, and two years later was elected secretary general of the German branch of HeHalutz. In 1936 he married Senetta Yoseftal, later also an Israeli politician.
