Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation
The Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is best known for its Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, the second largest piano competition in the United States. The Foundation also hosts regular piano competitions, concerts, and festivals on a four-year cycle. Simon Tedeschi
Simon Tedeschi (born 1 May 1981) is an Australian classical pianist and writer. Early life Tedeschi was born in Gosford to Mark Tedeschi QC, Senior Crown Prosecutor for New South Wales, and doctor Vivienne Tedeschi, the daughter of a Polish Holocaust survivor, Lucy Gershwin. Raised in a Reform Jewish household, he grew up on the North Shore of Sydney and attended Beaumont Road Public School in West Killara and St Andrew's Cathedral School in Sydney where the headmaster discouraged him from taking part in sports lest he damage his hands. His teachers were Neta Maughan in Australia, Noretta Conci in England and Peter Serkin in USA. When he was 9 years old, Tedeschi performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 19, K.459 in the Sydney Opera House. At age 13, he played for Luciano Pavarotti. Gina Bachauer
Gina Bachauer (Greek: Τζίνα Μπαχάουερ; May 21, 1910, AthensAugust 22, 1976, Athens), was a Greek classical pianist who toured extensively in the United States and Europe. Interested in piano at a young age, Bachauer graduated from the Athens Conservatory and studied under Alfred Cortot and Sergei Rachmaninoff. She is best known for playing Romantic piano concertos. She played hundreds of concerts for the Allied troops in the Middle East during World War II while she lived in Egypt. She spent a lot of time touring the United States and Europe, giving over 100 concerts each year. Bachauer also recorded extensively, both as a soloist and with orchestras. She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Utah. During her career she was called the "queen of pianists". Ted Rosenthal
Ted Rosenthal (born 1959) is an American jazz pianist. He was featured on David Sanborn's series '' Night Music'', and has performed worldwide, both as a leader and as a sideman with many jazz greats, including Gerry Mulligan, Art Farmer, Phil Woods, Bob Brookmeyer, and Jon Faddis. Rosenthal has released 15 CDs as a leader, which include Great American Songbook standards, jazz classical compositions, and Rosenthal's own original compositions. In addition to his career as a performing artist, Rosenthal holds faculty positions at the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and The New School. Early life Rosenthal was born and raised in Great Neck, Long Island, New York. He began playing by ear at a young age, and started studying at 12 with Tony Aless, a sideman with Charlie Parker and Stan Getz. Massimiliano Frani (born 10 January 1967 in Venice, Italy) is an Italian pianist, composer and music pedagogue. He is the founder of the project MET – Music Education Therapy and director of the Armoniæ Centro Internazionale di Musica e Cultura. He currently works as a musical art teacher at Elevations RTC, a residential treatment center in Syracuse, Utah, and lives in the state. Education Frani began his piano education at the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia in Venice, where he graduated with honors. After his studies in literature and theatre at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Frani attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Stephen Beus
Stephen Beus (born 1981, Othello, Washington, United States) is an American pianist. Biography Stephen Beus began taking piano lessons at age 5, and made his symphonic debut at age 9. He won the MTNA National Competition at the high school level at age 17, and later won the same competition again at age 21 at the collegiate level. He attended nearby Whitman College for undergraduate studies, and later attended the Juilliard School of Music at the graduate level. In 2011, Stephen obtained his DMA at Stony Brooke University. His teachers have included Leonard Richter, Gilbert Kalish, Christina Dahl, Paulette Richards and Robert McDonald. Stephen and his wife have four children.
