Gilmar Pisas
Gilmar Simon Pisas (born 28 February 1971) is a Curaçaoan politician and current Prime Minister of Curaçao, serving since 14 June 2021. He previously served as Prime Minister between 24 March 2017 and 29 May 2017, and as a member of the Parliament of Curaçao until June 2021. Early life and career Pisas was born on 28 October 1971. Before becoming involved in politics, he worked as a police officer. Political career Pisas was elected into the Parliament of Curaçao in the 2016 election. On 17 February 2017, Pisas was elected Speaker of Parliament, succeeding Giselle McWilliam. First Pisas cabinet On 24 March 2017, Pisas was sworn in as Prime Minister by Governor Lucille George-Wout, succeeding Hensley Koeiman. His interim cabinet received support by 12 of the 21 MPs. Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office, and is held only for the duration of that office. The COVID-19 pandemic in Curaçao is part of the ongoing global viral pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which was documented for the first time in Curaçao on 13 March 2020. The case was a 68-year-old man who was on vacation from the Netherlands. By 9 July 2020, all cases resolved. On 15 July, a new case was discovered, and on 6 August all cases resolved again briefly until 10 August. 2017 Curaçao General Election
Early general elections were held in Curaçao on 28 April 2017 after the fall of the government led by Hensley Koeiman. Background The previous general elections in 2016 resulted in the formation of a four-party coalition government consisting of MAN, the Real Alternative Party (PAR), the National People's Party (PNP) and Sovereign People (PS), headed by Hensley Koeiman of MAN. However, the PS withdrew from the coalition on 11 February 2017, causing it to lose its majority. Prime Minister Koeiman subsequently submitted his resignation to the governor. Jaime Córdoba (politician)
Jaime Córdoba (born 11 October 1950) is a Curaçaoan politician of the Sovereign People (PS). Between 23 December 2016 and 29 May 2017 he was Minister for Social Development, Work and Welfare. He was a member of the Estates of Curaçao between 2010 and December 2016, and served as Vice-President of the Estates between 2012 and 2015. Since December 2015 Córdoba serves as political leader of Sovereign People. He was leader of the party in the Estates from December 2015 until his appointment as Minister. Career Córdoba is a retired policeman, he has been member of the Estates of Curaçao for Sovereign People since the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles on 10 October 2010.
