Alan Leslie Gillis (22 September 1936 – 6 May 2022) was an Irish Fine Gael politician and Farmers' leader. He was president of the Irish Farmers' Association from 1990 to 1994. He was elected to the European Parliament at the 1994 European election for the Leinster constituency. He was a member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Parliament. Sean Vincent Gillis (born June 24, 1962) is an American serial killer and sex offender who stalked and murdered eight Louisiana women between 1994 and 2004 in the Baton Rouge Metro and surrounding areas. He was arrested without incident at his residence on Burgin Ave at 1:30 a.m. on April 29, 2004. In his initial arrest, he was charged with three counts of first degree murder and three counts of ritualistic acts in the murders of 29-year-old Katherine Hall, 45-year-old Johnnie Mae Williams and 43-year-old Donna Bennett Johnston. The Gillis family was an American family of eight who traveled the world in a covered wagon in the 1960s. The family consisted of father Leon Gillis (1920–2010), mother Iyone Gillis (1923–2015), and their six children: Lee Ann, Janet, Susie, Barbara, Allen, and George. John R. Gillis (; born 1939, died 2021) was an American historian. He was Professor Emeritus of History at Rutgers University. Education Gillis received his B.A. from Amherst College and a Ph.D. from Stanford University under the direction of Gordon A. Craig. Personal Gillis was married to Christina Mardsen Gillis, author of Writing on Stone: Scenes from a Maine Island Life. Academic work Gillis' early work was largely in social and cultural history.
