Anna Gillingham
Anna Gillingham (1878–1963) was an educator and psychologist, known for her contributions to the Orton-Gillingham method for teaching children with dyslexia how to read. Early life and education Gillingham was born on July 12, 1879. She was home-schooled by her parents, who were both teachers. She spent much of her childhood living on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, where her father was the local Indian agent. She graduated from Swarthmore in 1900, but later earned a second B.A. from Radcliffe, followed by a master's degree from Columbia Teachers College. Career Working with Dr. Samuel Orton, she trained teachers and published instructional materials regarding reading instruction, producing the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction. Charlie Gillingham
Charles Thomas Gillingham (born January 26, 1960) is a keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist best known for his performance on the Hammond B-3 organ, accordion, piano, and keyboards for the band Counting Crows. He has also played the bass guitar in live shows during certain songs such as " Holiday in Spain". Gillingham attended Richard Henry Dana Junior High in San Pedro, California, and also attended Miraleste High School in Rancho Palos Verdes his sophomore, junior and senior year. David Gillingham
David R. Gillingham (born October 20, 1947) is an American contemporary composer, who is known for his works for concert band and percussion ensemble. Biography He attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for his undergraduate degree in Music Education, after which he went to Vietnam where he served in the army, playing in various army bands. After returning to America, he became a band teacher for a few years, before going to Michigan State University for his PhD in Music Composition/Music Theory, after which he pursued a career as a composer while also serving as a university professor. Frank Gillingham
Frank Hay Gillingham (6 September 1875 – 1 April 1953) was an English cricketer. He played for Essex between 1903 and 1928. Born in Tokyo to John Rowley Gillingham and his wife Sarah (nee Archer), he was educated at Dulwich College and Durham University. He worked in the City of London for a while but, after training for ordination at the London College of Divinity, was ordained as a deacon in 1899 and priest in 1900 and became curate of Leyton (1899-1905). He later became an army chaplain with the 2nd Battalion, South Wales Borderers at Tidworth from 1905 to 1907 then again a curate at St James-the-Less, Bethnal Green, (1907-1910).
