Michael Jai White (born November 10, 1967) is an American actor, director and martial artist. He was the first African American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major motion picture, starring as Al Simmons, the protagonist in the 1997 film ''Spawn''.''Spawn'' was released on August 1, 1997, two weeks before the release of ''Steel'', which starred NBA basketball player Shaquille O'Neal. Robert Townsend and Damon Wayans also starred in the superhero films '' The Meteor Man'' (1993) and ''Blankman'' (1994), respectively, both parodies. Gillian Mary White (1936-2016, married name Fraser) was an English lawyer and professor of law. She was professor of international law at the Victoria University of Manchester, University of Manchester from 1975 until her retirement in 1991. She was the first English woman to be appointed as a professor of law in the United Kingdom, and the first woman to hold such a post in mainland Britain (South African Claire Palley having been appointed professor of law at Queen's University Belfast in 1970). Gillian Louise White (born 20 June 1939) is an English sculptor based in Switzerland. She has specialised in large scale works for public spaces. Biography White was born in Orpington, Kent, and attended the Elmhurst Ballet School which was then in Camberley. She studied at Saint Martin's School of Art and the Central School of Art and Design in London, and École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
