Giles Watling
Giles Francis Watling (born 18 February 1953) is a British Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party politician serving as Member of Parliament (United Kingdom), Member of Parliament (MP) for Clacton (UK Parliament constituency), Clacton since 2017 United Kingdom general election, 2017. Prior to entering politics, he was an actor. Early life and education Born in Chingford to actress Patricia Hicks and actor Jack Watling, Giles Watling was educated at Forest School (Walthamstow), Forest School in Walthamstow. He is the younger brother of the actress Deborah Watling and the younger half-brother of actress Dilys Watling. Career Watling has worked extensively in the British theatre and on television, but is probably best known for the role of the vicar Oswald in Carla Lane's series ''Bread (television series), Bread''. 2014 Clacton By-election
The 2014 by-election for the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons constituency of Clacton (UK Parliament constituency), Clacton in Essex, England, took place on 9 October 2014. The by-election was triggered by the Conservative Party (UK), Conservative MP for Clacton, Douglas Carswell, defecting to the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and subsequently Resignation from the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, resigning his seat to seek re-election as its candidate. Standing for UKIP, Carswell retained the seat with 59.7% of the vote, becoming UKIP's first elected MP. The Conservatives came second, and Labour third. Since 2009, the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom has experimented with the use of open primaries to select some parliamentary candidates. The first primaries were held ahead of the 2010 general election. More than a dozen primaries were held ahead of the 2015 general election. Tendring District Council
Tendring is a village and civil parish in Essex. It gives its name to the Tendring District and before that the Tendring Hundred. Its name was given to the larger groupings because it was at the centre, not because it was larger than the other settlements. In 2011 the parish had a population of 736 and the district had a population of 138,048. The linear village straddles the B1035 from Manningtree to Thorpe-le-Soken.
