Giles Ministry
The Giles Ministry was the ministry of the tenth Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Adam Giles. It came into operation on 14 March 2013, following the replacement of Terry Mills as Chief Minister and leader of the Country Liberal Party by Adam Giles. It ended on 31 August 2016, when Labor leader Michael Gunner became Chief Minister following his victory at the 2016 election. Chief Minister Of The Northern Territory
The chief minister of the Northern Territory is the head of government of the Northern Territory. The office is the equivalent of a state premier. When the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly was created in 1974, the head of government was officially known as majority leader. This title was used in the first parliament (1974–1977) and the first eighteen months of the second. When self-government was granted the Northern Territory in 1978, the title of the head of government became chief minister. The chief minister is formally appointed by the administrator, who in normal circumstances will appoint the head of whichever party holds the majority of seats in the unicameral Legislative Assembly. In times of constitutional crisis, the administrator can appoint someone else as chief minister, though this has never occurred. Peter Styles (politician)
Peter Donald Styles (born 8 July 1953) is an Australian politician. He was a Country Liberal Party member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2016, representing the electorate of Sanderson. Born in Perth, Western Australia, Styles owned and operated a multi-purpose ship and worked as a public servant for the state government, before joining Western Australia Police. In 1981, he moved to Darwin and transferred to the Northern Territory Police where he served for 27 years. In 1991, he was awarded the National Medal, and was upgraded to 1st clasp in 2001. Matt Conlan
Matthew Escott Conlan (born 1968) is an Australian politician. He was a Country Liberal Party member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 2007 to 2016, having won his seat of Greatorex in a 2007 by-election. He held several ministerial portfolios in the Mills and Giles Ministries, including Minister for Tourism, Minister for Sport, Minister for Arts and Minister for Housing. Alison Anderson
Alison Nampitjinpa Anderson (born 28 January 1958) is an Australian politician. She was member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly between 2005 and 2016, representing the electorate of Namatijra (known as MacDonnell until 2012). Currently an independent, she has previously served as a minister for both the Labor Party and Country Liberal Party and been territory leader of the Palmer United Party. Anderson entered the Northern Territory Assembly as a star candidate for the Labor Party in the 2005 election.
