Gilead Township is one of the sixteen townships of Morrow County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 5,942 people lived in the township; 3,503 lived in the village of Mount Gilead and 422 lived in the village of Edison. Geography Located in the central part of the county, it borders the following townships: * Washington Township - north * Congress Township - northeast * Franklin Township - east * Harmony Township - southeast * Lincoln Township - south * Cardington Township - southwest * Canaan Township - northwest Two villages are located in Gilead Township: Edison in the west, and Mount Gilead, the county seat of Morrow County in the center. History Edison was formerly called Gilead Station, and later Levering. The present name is for American inventor Thomas Alva Edison.
