Anthony Gilby
Anthony Gilby (c.1510–1585) was an English clergyman, known as a radical Puritan and translator of the Geneva Bible, the first English Bible available to the general public. He was born in Lincolnshire, and was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge, graduating in 1535. Early life In Gilby's early life, he served as a preacher in Leicestershire under the rule of Edward VI. During this time, he was brought together with people who shared similar opinions to his on the corruptions of the era. This pushed him to publish ''A Commentarye upon the Prophet Mycha'' (1551) and ''A Commentarye upon the Prophet Malaky'' (c. 1553), freely expressing through these texts his feelings about the persecution of his religion.Cross, Claire "Gilby, Anthony." Fred Gilby
Frederick William Gilby (6 November 1907 – 6 November 1991) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Gilby, a half back flanker, played at Coburg in 1925 when they were in their first VFA season. He joined Carlton the following year and was a regular in the team for over a decade. Charles Frederick John Gilby (13 December 1900 – 8 June 1985) was a New Zealand rower who competed at the 1930 British Empire Games. Early life and family Born on 13 December 1900, Gilby was the son of Charles Horace Gilby, who was principal of Christchurch Commercial College, and his second wife, Gertrude Hilda Gilby (née Johnston).
