Higley Unified School District
The Higley Unified School District #60, abbreviated HUSD #60 is a school district in Gilbert, Arizona. The school district serves portions of Gilbert and Queen Creek. It is one of Arizona's fastest growing school districts, with modest continued growth despite the downturn in the economy at the end of the 2000s (decade). The District owns two preschools, nine elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and one virtual academy. In August 2013, the district opened two new middle schools and all other elementary schools that hosted grades K-8 went down to K-6. History The Higley district was incorporated in 1909 with a territory far larger than its current size, but most of the land was transferred to other Valley school districts over the years. Gilbert Classical Academy
Gilbert Classical Academy (GCA) is a choice 7th-12th junior high and high school in the Gilbert Public Schools district. It opened in 2007, replacing the former Tech and Leadership Academy in that district which served 9th–12th grades. Students a follow a strict dress code. Uniform options for bottoms include khaki shorts, pants, and skorts and purple and yellow plaid skirts and skorts. Polos can be white, purple, or yellow. Seniors are permitted to wear black polos or dress shirts. On Fridays, seniors and teachers are encouraged to wear college shirts. Students in grades 9 through 12 are able to participate in some Arizona Interscholastic Association-sanctioned sports. Gilbert Classical Academy had its first graduating class in 2011. The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) is one of two regulatory bodies for high school athletics and activities in the state of Arizona. Canyon Valley School, alternatively known as Canyon Valley High School and often abbreviated as CV, CVS or CVHS is an alternative education institution in Mesa, Arizona serving primarily high school aged students, with some eighth grade classes also being offered. The school is operated by Gilbert Public Schools and presently hosts no official athletic or extracurricular activities.
