Gilbert Pratt (February 16, 1892 – December 10, 1954) was an American film director, actor and writer. He directed 87 films between 1917 and 1936. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and died in Los Angeles, California. Providence, Rhode Island
Providence is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. One of the oldest cities in New England, it was founded in 1636 by Roger Williams, a Reformed Baptist theologian and religious exile from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He named the area in honor of "God's merciful Providence" which he believed was responsible for revealing such a haven for him and his followers. The city developed as a busy port as it is situated at the mouth of the Providence River in Providence County, at the head of Narragansett Bay. Providence was one of the first cities in the country to industrialize and became noted for its textile manufacturing and subsequent machine tool, jewelry, and silverware industries. ''It's a Wild Life'' is a 1918 American short comedy film featuring Harold Lloyd. Newmeyer * James Parrott * Charles Stevenson Plot Harold attempts to court Bebe but he is turned away from Bebe's home by her mother who tells Harold that her daughter will only date a banker or a councilman. Bebe's father arranges for Snub to date his daughter as he fits the criteria for an acceptable suitor. Harold follows Bebe, Snub and Bebe's parents to a dance hall where Bebe is pleased to see him. ''The City Slicker'' is a 1918 American short comedy film featuring Harold Lloyd. Prints of the film survive in the film archive of the Library of Congress. Plot Harold arrives in the backward town of Punkville by train to answer a classified ad offering employment for an eager young man who can modernize an antiquated hotel. Within a short time Harold has modernized the inn, including having rooms where the furniture. beds, telephones and bathtubs emerge from the walls.
