Gilbert (band)
Gilbert is the performance name of Matthew Gilbert Linley, a London-based composer and musician. He is also the drummer in Engineers with Mark Peters and Ulrich Schnauss. Biography He began playing the drums at an early age and then went on to study classical music and composition at Oriel College, Oxford University and Goldsmiths College. After a period of writing soundtracks for film and television he began writing under the Gilbert moniker. Gilbert's eponymous debut album was released in 2007 on the independent record label Shifty Disco Records. It received excellent reviews and extensive national radio airplay. In 2010, Gilbert's album '' Wahoola!'' was released. Shifty Disco
Shifty Disco was a British independent record label based in Oxford, England. The record label was started by local enthusiasts in January 1997 and their early releases were often featured by John Peel on his BBC Radio 1 show. Shifty Disco has released recordings by artists such as Beulah, Mark Gardener, Unbelievable Truth, and Young Knives. One of Shifty Disco's early, defining initiatives was the Shifty Disco singles club which released a new single every month to subscribers. A compilation of all the Singles Club releases was released as a 5-CD set in 2002: ''0-60 in Five Years – The Complete Shifty Disco Singles Club Collection''. Silje Nes (born November 25, 1980, in Leikanger) is a Norwegian multi-instrumentalist, singer and sound artist. She has released two albums on British label Fat Cat Records. She released her first album, '' Ames Room'', in December 2007. Nes' second album, ''Opticks'', was released on September 12, 2010. Udderbelly
The Udderbelly is an upside-down giant purple cow tent owned by the event venue and management company ''Underbelly'', originally sponsored by E4 as the "E4 udderBELLY". The Udderbelly can be used for a variety of different purposes as it can be adapted to contain a stage and all-seater 405 seat venue, or alternatively can be completely empty inside. The exterior skin can either be the upside-down purple cow, or alternatively a white, silver, or purple tent. The tent has an aluminum truss frame that is designed to be strong enough to carry several tonnes of weight in lighting and sound equipment. It was first unveiled for the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was situated in Bristo Square (which itself was converted into a large outdoor pub known as ''The Pasture''). Engineers (band)
Engineers are a British shoegazing/dream pop band. The band was formed in London in 2003 by bassist/guitarist/keyboardist Mark Peters, singer/guitarist Simon Phipps, bassist/guitarist Dan MacBean (previously known as guitarist of The Shining), and drummer Andrew Sweeney. After the release of their second album '' Three Fact Fader'' in 2009, MacBean and Sweeney left the band, and were replaced by bassist/vocalist Daniel Land, drummer Matthew Linley, and keyboardist Ulrich Schnauss.
