Gil Bastião Dias (born 28 September 1996) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a winger for Ekstraklasa club Legia Warsaw, on loan from VfB Stuttgart. Club career Early years Born in Gafanha da Nazaré, Aveiro District, Dias played youth football with four clubs, including A.D. Sanjoanense from ages 12 to 17. He finished his development with S.C. Braga and, on 9 August 2014, played his first game as a professional with their reserves, coming on as a late substitute in a 1–0 away loss against C.D. Tondela in the Segunda Liga. Monaco Dias signed with AS Monaco FC in January 2015, going on to appear mostly for the reserve team during his tenure. The 2015–16 LigaPro (also known as Ledman LigaPro for sponsorship reasons) was the 26th season of Portuguese football's second-tier league, and the first season under the current LigaPro title. Reserve Team
In sports, a reserve team is a team composed of players under contract to a club but who do not normally play in matches for the first team. Reserve teams often include back-up players from the first team, young players who need playing time to improve their skills, as well as members of the first team recovering from injury. In some countries, reserve or development teams compete in entirely separate competitions from first teams, while some countries allow reserve teams or farm teams to compete in the same league system as their club's first team, although usually in separate divisions. In association football Reserve teams usually consist of a combination of emerging youth players and first-team squad players. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time.
