Gijón Mariners
Gijón Mariners is an American football team based in Gijón, Asturias (Spain). History The team was established in 2001 by a group of players of flag football at the beach. They joined the Spanish league for the 2006 season, and got included on the Western Conference of the LNFA 2. They played their first game ever on that competition February 19, 2006, against Zaragoza Hurricanes with a score against of 60–6. On their second season, again in the LNFA 2, they qualified for the play-offs and only lost on the last round (semi-finals) for the championship bowl. The success of the merchandise finally made it possible to reach the top competition, the LNFA, on the 2008 season. They finished with a 4–4 (Won-Lost) record, the best ever for a rookie team on the league's history. LNFA 2011
The 2011 LNFA season was the 17th season of top-tier American football in Spain. The regular season began on January 22, 2011 and ended on May 14, 2011. The playoffs began on May 15 and ended on June 18. The tournament was about to keep its format of 15 teams divided into three conferences of five teams each, but Marbella Sharks withdrew the competition months before it started, so the teams were reassigned. The Spanish Conference included the six top teams of the LNFA 2010, 2010 season. The National and Hispanic Conferences included four teams each. At the end of the regular season, the three top finishers of the Conferencia Española accessed directly to the semi-finals for the title, and faced the winner of the playoffs between wild cards. The Parma Panthers are an American football team based in Parma, Italy that competes in the Italian Football League. The team was founded in 1981 by Vic Dasaro, an American veterinary student attending university in Parma. Dasaro created the team from an amalgam of power lifters from a local high school gym, ex-rugby players, other vet students, and a mixed bunch of soccer goalies, track and field athletes, and local kids who had seen football on the occasional TV broadcast and liked the helmet and shoulderpad look. The team is now built on longtime IFL veterans and young players from the Panthers' own youth teams, with still a healthy contingent of University of Parma students. The 2020 LNFA season is the 26th season of American football in Spain. Badalona Dracs are the defending champions. Competition format For the 2020 season, ten teams joined the league. Valencia Firebats and Granada Lions resigned to their place, while L'Hospitalet Pioners replaced Santiago Black Ravens, relegated from the previous season. The teams were divided into two groups of five, according to geographical criteria. Badalona Dracs successfully defended their title from the previous season, defeating Las Rozas Black Demons in the LNFA Bowl.
