Gideon Gadot
Gideon Gadot ( he, גדעון גדות, 1 April 1941 – 21 September 2012) was an Israeli journalist and politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Likud between 1984 and 1992. Biography Gideon Foreman (later Gadot) was born in Bnei Brak during the Mandate era. He attended the Mikveh Israel agricultural high school before studying sociology and communications at university in South Africa. He joined the Betar youth movement in 1951, and was a member of the organisation's national leadership between 1965 and 1968. During his time in South Africa, he acted as an emissary for the organisation. He worked as a journalist for ''Herut'', '' HaYom'', and '' Yom Yom'', before becoming head of the Herut party's spokesperson's section in 1977, working there until 1982. Bnei Brak or Bene Beraq ( he, בְּנֵי בְּרַק ) is a city located on the central Mediterranean Sea, Mediterranean Israeli coastal plain, coastal plain in Israel, just east of Tel Aviv. A center of Haredi Judaism, Bnei Brak covers an area of 709 hectares (1752 acres, or 2.74 square miles), and had a population of in . Aryeh Ben-Eliezer ( he, אריה בן אליעזר, 16 December 1913 – 29 January 1970) was a Revisionist Zionist leader, Irgun member and Israeli politician. Biography Aryeh Ben-Eliezer (born Lipa Zabrowsky) was born in Vilnius in the Russian Empire (today in Lithuania). His family immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1920. He attended high schools in Tel Aviv. Zionist activism At the age of thirteen, he joined Betar and during the 1929 Palestine riots and the 1936 riots took an active part in the battle for Tel Aviv. Between 1932 and 1939 he served as an emissary for Betar and the Irgun in Poland, Romania and the Baltic countries. The Betar Movement ( he, תנועת בית"ר), also spelled Beitar (), is a Revisionist Zionist youth movement founded in 1923 in Riga, Latvia, by Vladimir (Ze'ev) Jabotinsky. Chapters sprang up across Europe, even during World War II. After the war and during the settlement of what became Israel, Betar was traditionally linked to the original Herut and then Likud political parties of Jewish pioneers.
