Gibson Burrell
Gibson Burrell (born 1948) is a British sociologist and organizational theorist, Professor of Organisation Theory at University of Manchester, Honorary Professor at the University of York, and formerly the University of Leicester. He became known as writer of the 1979 book ''Sociological Paradigms and Organizational Analysis'' with Gareth Morgan, Morgen Witzel (2003) ''Fifty key figures in management''. p.232-239 and is recognized for establishing a ''critical'' ''management'' school at the University of Leicester. Life and work Burrell studied sociology at the University of Leicester, where in 1974 he also completed his M.Phil. In 1980 he received his PhD at the University of Manchester. Burrell started his academic career as researcher at the University of Birmingham. Jeff Hearn
Jeffery Richard (Jeff) Hearn (born 5 August 1947) is a British sociologist, and Research Professor at the University of Huddersfield, and Professor at the Hanken School of Economics. Biography Hearn obtained his MA at the University of Oxford in 1973 and another MA in Organisational Sociology at the University of Leeds in 1974, and his PhD in Social Theory, Social Planning and Theories of Patriarchy at the University of Bradford in 1986. Hearn has been Lecturer, Senior-Lecturer, Research Fellow, Visiting Professor, Professor and the like at universities in Bradford, Manchester, Sunderland, Åbo and elsewhere. He is currently teaching as a professor at the "Hanken School of Economics" in Helsinki and Linköping University, Sweden. Organizational theory refers to the set of interrelated concepts that involve the sociological study of the structures and operations of formal social organizations. Organizational theory also attempts to explain how interrelated units of organization do or do not connect with each other.
