Gibeon Constituency
Gibeon ( Nama: Khaxa-tsûs) is a constituency in the Hardap Region of Namibia. The administrative centre of the constituency is the village of Gibeon. It had a population of 12,122 in 2011, up from 11,541 in 2001. In August 2013, Gibeon Constituency lost the western part of its territory, which became a constituency of its own, namely Daweb Constituency. the constituency had 3,951 registered voters. Politics The 2015 regional elections were won by Jeremias van Neel of Swapo with 1,255 votes. Niklaas Jacobus Dawson of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) came second with 206 votes, followed by Geoffrey Keramen of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) with 122 votes. Namibia held elections for their local and regional councils on 27 November 2015. Ballots were cast using electronic voting. Electoral system Elections to regional councils are held using the first-past-the-post electoral system. Voters in each constituency elect one councillor to represent them on their regional council. The Landless People's Movement (LPM) is a political party in Namibia. Local and regional elections were held in Namibia on 25 November 2020 to elect new local and regional councils. The previous round of elections was held in 2015 and won by the ruling SWAPO party. Democratic Turnhalle Alliance
The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), formerly the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA), is an amalgamation of political parties in Namibia, registered as one singular party for representation purposes. The Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) is a political party in Namibia. It was launched on 17 November 2007 under the leadership of Hidipo Hamutenya and Jesaya Nyamu, both former leading members of the ruling SWAPO party and cabinet ministers. Hamutenya had unsuccessfully sought the SWAPO nomination for President in 2004. At the time of the RDP's launch, it was considered to represent the strongest challenge to SWAPO's political dominance since the country gained its independence in 1990. Daweb Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Hardap Region of Namibia. It was created in August 2013, following a recommendation of the ''Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia'', and in preparation of the 2014 general election. Daweb constituency was formed from the western part of Gibeon Constituency. The administrative centre of Daweb Constituency is the village of Maltahöhe. the constituency had 3,297 registered voters. Politics In the 2015 regional elections Herculus Jantze of Swapo won the constituency with 853 votes, followed by the independent candidate Adam Johannes Baisako (199 votes), Paul Lucas Simon of the Democratic Party of Namibia (DPN, 108 votes) and Anna Lukas of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA, 80 votes).
