Gianna Jannoni
Gianna Jannoni (born 18 October 1924) is an Italian former high jumper. Career Five-time national champion at senior level in high jump from 1942 to 1951, she boasts also 12 caps in the Italy national athletics team always from 1942 to 1951. Although in those years the Jannoni dominated the high jump scene in Italy, she never managed to hold the Italian record, approaching 1937 Ondina Valla's record, which was 1.56 m, one centimeter with 1.55 m on two occasions, one first in the 1949 and a second and last one in 1951. The record of the Valla was then surpassed with 1.57 m by Paola Paternoster, but only in 1955 and there after 18 years. Italian Athletics Championships
The Italian Athletics Championships ( it, Campionati italiani assoluti di atletica leggera) are the national championships in athletics, organised every year by the Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera. The first edition, four races only, was held in 1906 at Arena Civica in Milan, just after the foundation of the Federazione Podistica Italiana and with the organization of ''La Gazzetta dello Sport''. Since then, 110 editions were held with the only exceptions of the years 1915-1918 and 1944. During 1945, only athletes of Northern Italy could participate but FIDAL considered this edition as an official one. To the running races, in 1913 the field events were added. Paola Paternoster (née Carotenuto; 22 December 1935 – 27 June 2018) was an Italian athlete. She competed in the discus throw at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics and in the javelin throw in 1956, and placed 11th–20th. Ondina Valla
Trebisonda "Ondina" Valla (20 May 1916 – 16 October 2006) was an Italians, Italian female athletics (sport), athlete, and the first Italian woman to ever win an Olympic Games, Olympic gold medal. She won it in the 80 m hurdling, hurdles event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, after establishing the new world record during the semi-final.
