Giambattista Toderini
Giambattista Toderini (Venice, 1728 – Venice, 4 July 1799) was a Venetian philosopher, writer, and former Jesuit , image = Ihs-logo.svg , image_size = 175px , caption = ChristogramOfficial seal of the Jesuits , abbreviation = SJ , nickname = Jesuits , formation = , founders ... abbot. Biography Son of Domenico Maria and Anna Maria Cestari, he was the descendant of the Gagliardis dalla Volta counts palatine. Toderini studied philosophy and archaeology, but tended toward contemplative and religious life since his youth and joined the Society of Jesus. He was employed in teaching, dedicating himself to philosophy in Verona and Forlì. After the Suppression of the Society of Jesus, suppression of the Jesuits, Toderini lost his position, and in October 1781 he joined the entourage of the Venetian ambassador to Constantinople, Agostino Garzoni. Turkish literature ( tr, Türk edebiyatı) comprises oral compositions and written texts in Turkic languages. The ''İslâm Ansiklopedisi'' (İA) () is a Turkish academic encyclopedia for Islamic studies published by ' ( eng, Turkish Religious Foundation). Its most recent 44-volume edition, called ''Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı İslâm Ansiklopedisi'' (''TDV İA'' or ''DİA''), was completed between 1988 and 2013, with two supplementary volumes published in 2016. It contains 16,855 articles in total. Its content is available on its website for free. Edition history Initially, in 1939, the ''İA'' was proposed to be a translation of the first ''Encyclopaedia of Islam'' (EI1, 1913–1938) into the Turkish language because the EI1 had only been introduced in English, French and German.
