Ghostlights
''Ghostlights'' is the seventh full-length album by Tobias Sammet's German metal opera project Avantasia. It was released on 29 January 2016. The opening track and first single "Mystery of a Blood Red Rose" was a candidate for the German representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, along with nine other songs. The Digibook edition of the album included a bonus track and a bonus CD entitled ''Avantasia Live'', which featured songs recorded mainly during Avantasia's 2014 performance at Wacken Open Air Festival. ''Ghostlights'' scored the highest positions of any Avantasia release in several international music charts and marks the second time Avantasia has entered the US ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. The plot of the album concludes the story started on ''The Mystery of Time''. Avantasia
Avantasia is a German supergroup metal opera project created by Tobias Sammet, vocalist of the band Edguy. It has been characterized as a rock opera, as it features the contributions of various vocalists and musicians and it consists of concept albums. Conceived in 1999 as studio-only, two-album project, Avantasia has since released seven other studio albums and has toured the world multiple times. It can be divided into four periods of activity. The first, 1999–2002, saw the release of a self-titled single and the full-length albums ''The Metal Opera'' and ''The Metal Opera Part II''. Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose
"Mystery of a Blood Red Rose" is a single and opening track to the German power metal project Avantasia's album ''Ghostlights'', released on 11 December 2015 with a lyric video. It was one of the ten candidates to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The song was between the final three finalists, but eventually was defeated by "Ghost", performed by Jamie-Lee Kriewitz. Composing and recording Tobias Sammet, the project's leader and songwriter, described the song as "sumptuous" and similar to "Meat Loaf around 1979 or at most 1990". He also said: Indeed, the choirs took a total 14 hours to record. Meat Loaf was initially set to sing on the song, and his management was already in the process of approving it. However, they ultimately decided to decline for unknown reasons. Moonglow (Avantasia Album)
''Moonglow'' is the eighth full-length album by Tobias Sammet's German metal opera project Avantasia. It was released on 15 February 2019 through Nuclear Blast. As with previous Avantasia projects, the album features extensive collaborations with returning and new guest vocalists. It features 11 tracks (12 including its bonus track) and was supported by a world tour. Background and composition Following the Ghostlights World Tour, Tobias Sammet felt exhausted and decided to take a break. He started to write songs for what would maybe become a solo album, but he realized the songs sounded like Avantasia and decided to write a follow-up to the 2016 album. Unlike previous releases, he did not have a deadline for ''Moonglow''. Tobias Sammet (born 21 November 1977) is a German musician, singer, songwriter, music producer and radio host best known for being the singer and primary songwriter of the power metal band Edguy, and the founder of the metal opera project Avantasia. Career Sammet founded Edguy in 1992 with schoolmates. Under the musical influence of AC/DC, Freddie Mercury (Queen), and Helloween, the typical power metal sound of his band, in which he mainly acts as a singer and frontman, emerged. The Mystery Of Time
''The Mystery of Time'' is the sixth full-length album by German Tobias Sammet's rock opera project Avantasia. The album was released on 26 April 2013. This is the first Avantasia release to feature the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg (the same orchestra that performed on Edguy's album ''Hellfire Club''). The cover artwork was painted by Rodney Matthews. ''The Mystery Of Time'' scored high positions in several international music charts and even enabled Avantasia to enter the US Billboard charts for the first time. ''The Metal Opera'' is the first full-length album by Tobias Sammet's German supergroup project, Avantasia. It is a concept album and a rock opera. The album is followed by the sequel ''The Metal Opera Part II''. Both were written over the course of a year, starting in the last quarter of 1998, and both were produced from October 1999 to June 2000, with the works being interrupted for some weeks so Sammet could produce ''The Savage Poetry'' with his other band Edguy. The project claims that the album's title marked the first usage of the term "metal opera". Sammet also considers it his professional debut, since it marked the first time he actually made money from music, even though by that time he had already released three albums with Edguy. Queensrÿche is an American heavy metal band. It formed in 1982 in Bellevue, Washington, out of the local band the Mob. Child Catcher
The Child Catcher is a fictional character in the 1968 film ''Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'' and in the later stage musical adaptation. The Child Catcher is employed by Baron Bomburst and Baroness Bomburst to snatch and imprison children on the streets of Vulgaria. ''The Wicked Symphony'' is the fourth full-length album by Tobias Sammet's German rock opera project Avantasia, released on 3 April 2010, parallel with ''Angel of Babylon''. ''The Wicked Symphony'' was released both as part of a box set, with the two albums combined and as an individual album. It is the second part of "The Wicked Trilogy" and it is followed by ''Angel of Babylon''.
