Gheorghe Dima National Music Academy is an educational institution located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Christian Wilhelm Berger
Christian Wilhelm Berger (born 13 June 1964 in Bucharest) is a Romanian composer, organist, and a lecturer at the Bucharest Academy. Education Berger studied piano at George Enescu Music School in Bucharest from 1970 to 1982. He studied composition at the Music Academy in Bucharest, with Prof. Aurel Stroe and Prof. Tiberiu Olah from 1983 to 1987, and received his Ph. D. at Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, with Cornel Țăranu in 1994. Berger privately studied the pipe organ with Ilse Maria Reich who was an organ player at a Lutheran Church in Bucharest, and with Eckart Schlandt, an organ player at the Black Church in Braşov. Gheorghe Ciobanu
Gheorghe Ciobanu (February 4, 1909 — June 29, 1995) was a Romanian ethnomusicologist and Byzantine specialist. He published several important papers on early Romanian psalm music and Romanian folklore. The musicologist Viorel Cosma, wrote that Ciobanu's "studies of Romanian folklore did much to solve questions about popular modes and methods of versification, and contributed greatly to the history of folk collections and popular music." He was awarded the Romanian Composers' Union prize five times (1969, 1974, 1977, 1979, 1987), and was twice awarded the prize of the Romanian Academy (1957, 1978). Boldizsár Csiky (born October 3, 1937) is a Romanian composer of Hungarian ethnicity. He was born in Târgu Mureș and began his musical studies at the Târgu Music School (1954–1955) before further study at the Conservatory in Cluj (1955–1961). Tiberiu Olah
Tiberiu Olah or Tibor Oláh (2 January 1928 – 2 October 2002) was a Romanian-Hungarian composer, teacher and musicologist. Biography Tiberiu Olah was born in Arpad, Bihor, and began his studies at the Cluj Conservatory in 1946. From 1949-54 he studied at the Moscow Conservatory, and in 1958 he took a position as a lecturer and later as a professor at the Bucharest Conservatory. Notable students include Doina Rotaru, Costin Miereanu, Horațiu Rădulescu and Christian Wilhelm Berger. Olah was a member of the Csodamalom Bábszínház Puppet Theater where he acted as a puppeteer. He received grants for research in musicology and presented studies and papers internationally. Anita Hartig
Anita Hartig (born 1983) is a Romanian operatic soprano. Born in Bistrița, Hartig studied at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, graduating in 2006. Hartig has had particular success in the role of Mimì in Puccini's ''La bohème''. She first sang Mimì in 2006 at the Cluj-Napoca Romanian National Opera. She sang the role in Welsh National Opera's 2012 new production directed by Annabel Arden, and has since sung the role with The Royal Opera, London, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, and the Vienna State Opera. Mariana Nicolesco
Mariana Nicolesco ( or ; 28 November 1948 – 14 October 2022) was a Romanian operatic soprano who had an international career after she studied in Rome on a scholarship. She was a regular performer at La Scala in Milan where she performed Baroque opera such as Euridice in Rossi's ''Orfeo'', Mozart roles such as Cinna in '' Lucio Silla'' in 1984, and contemporary including the world premiere of Luciano Berio's ''La Vera Storia'' in 1982. Adela Zaharia
Adela Zaharia (; born 1987) is a Romanian operatic soprano. She is currently a soloist at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf. In 2017, Zaharia won first place at the Operalia, The World Opera Competition. Early life and education Born in Arad, Romania, Zaharia studied piano from the age of six and later, music theory.
