Ghazi Abdel Baki
Ghazi Abdel Baki is a musician, composer, producer. He founded in 2001 Forward Music and since then has produced more than 40 albums and more than 300 concerts for several artists in the Middle-East. Early life Born in 1969, Abdel Baki, started playing the drums at the age of ten in war-torn Beirut. By the age of twelve, he started rigging the balconies of his childhood home with microphones and recording live sounds of gun battles and shelling on a rudimentary 4-track cassette recorder. He spent his time mixing them with his early guitar compositions and created a personal soundtrack of his early years in Lebanon. Ilham al-Madfai ( ar, إلهام المدفعي) (born 1942) is an Iraqi guitarist, singer and composer. al-Madfai's synthesis of Western guitar stylings with traditional Iraqi music has made him a popular performer in his native country and throughout the Middle East. Beginning in 1999, al-Madfai released a string of albums on EMI's label, including his platinum eponymous debut, ''Ilham al-Madfai'' (1999), ''Live at the Hard Rock Cafe'' (2001), ''Baghdad'' (2003) and ''The Voice of Iraq: The Best of Ilham al-Madfai'' (2005). Souad Massi (سعاد ماسي; born August 23, 1972), is an Algerian Berber singer, songwriter and guitarist. She began her career performing in the Kabyle political rock band Atakor, before leaving the country following a series of death threats. In 1999, Massi performed at the ''Femmes d'Algérie'' concert in Paris, which led to a recording contract with Island Records. Henri Texier (born 27 January 1945) is a French jazz double bassist. At the age of sixteen, fascinated by the double bass, Texier became a self-taught bassist, crediting Wilbur Ware most as an influence. He formed his first group with Georges Locatelli, Alain Tabar-Nouval, Jean-Max Albert, and Klaus Hagel, inspired by the music of Don Cherry and Ornette Coleman. In spite of an almost absence of recorded documents this group represents one of the first expressions of free jazz in France (1965). Tony Allen (musician)
Tony Oladipo Allen (20 July 1940 – 30 April 2020) was a Nigerian drummer, composer, and songwriter who lived and worked in Paris, France. Allen was the drummer and musical director of Fela Kuti's band Africa '70 from 1968 to 1979, and was one of the founders of the Afrobeat genre. Fela once stated that "without Tony Allen, there would be no Afrobeat". He was described by Brian Eno as "perhaps the greatest drummer who has ever lived". Later in life, Allen collaborated with Damon Albarn on several projects, including Gorillaz, the Good, the Bad & the Queen and Rocket Juice & the Moon.
