Ghana A' National Football Team
The Ghana A' national football team is the local national football team of Ghana and is open only to indigenous domestic league players. The team represents Ghana at the WAFU Nations Cup and the African Nations Championship and is controlled by the Ghana Football Association. They are also known as the ''Local Black Stars''. The Local Black Stars came second at the 2009 African Nations Championship, at the 2014 edition hosted in South Africa, Ghana reached the final again but lost in a penalty shoot-out to the Libya. They have also appeared at the WAFU Nations Cup 4 times, hosting the tournament twice and winning the on both occasions in 2013 and 2017. The current coach of the side is Annor Walker. Maxwell Konadu and Ibrahim Tanko are former head coaches of the side. African Nations Championship
The African Nations Championship (french: Championnat d'Afrique des Nations; abbreviated as CHAN), known as the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship for sponsorship purposes, is a biennial African national association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and first announced on 11 September 2007. The participating nations must consist of players playing in their national league competitions. The first tournament held in Ivory Coast in 2009 was won by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who, along with Morocco, are the only countries to have won the tournament twice, with Tunisia and Libya scooping one title each. At first, the tournament was played with eight teams, but quickly expanded to sixteen from the second edition onward. Ghana Women's National Football Team
The Ghana women's national football team represents Ghana in international women's football. It is governed by the Ghana Football Association. Its players are known as the ''Black Queens''. History The beginning The Ghana women's national team played its first international match on 16 February 1991 against Nigeria in Lagos, Nigeria. The Ghana national football team represents Ghana in men's international football, doing it since 1957. The team consists of twenty players including the technical team. The team is nicknamed the Black Stars after the Black Star of Africa in the flag of Ghana. It is governed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) the governing body for football in Ghana and the oldest football association in Africa (founded in 1920). Richard Kingson
Richard Kingson (born 13 June 1978) is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He currently serves as a goalkeeper coach for the Ghana national football team. He is also known by his Turkish name Faruk Gürsoy and sometimes by the surname Kings''t''on, which is the surname he used in his UEFA registration and also the surname of his brother Laryea Kingston. Prosper Narteh Ogum (born 5 November 1977) is a Ghanaian football manager who currently serves as head coach of Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko and assistant coach of Ghana A' national football team. Ibrahim Anyars Tanko (born 25 July 1977) is a Ghanaian retired footballer who played mostly as a second striker or an attacking midfielder, scout and manager who last served as the head coach of the local Black Stars - Ghana A' national football team. He played most of his 15-year professional career – blighted by injuries – in Germany, with Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg. 2017 WAFU Cup Of Nations
The 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations (also referred to as Ghana 2017) was an association football tournament that took place in September 2017 in Ghana. Sixteen teams from West Africa participated. The tournament was the first featuring national teams to be arranged by Fox Sports as part of a twelve year partnership between the broadcaster and the West Africa national football associations union. Originally, one of the two host cities was set to be Sekondi-Takoradi however the local organising committee changed it to Elmina due to "structural defects at the Sekondi-Takoradi Stadium and the danger it could pose to fans during the tournament".
