Gggarth
Garth "GGGarth" Richardson is a Canadian record producer and music engineer. He is the son of music producer Jack Richardson (Alice Cooper, The Guess Who, Badfinger, Poco), a pioneer of the music recording industry in the 1960s and 1970s. Garth Richardson has done music engineering work for the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, and Mötley Crüe, and produced for Kittie, Biffy Clyro, Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne, Melvins, Shihad, Kensington, and many others. He cofounded the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver, British Columbia together with Bob Ezrin and Kevin Williams. The school was named after Richardson's father's production company, Nimbus 9, and offers courses in production, recording, and audio. Richardson has the nickname 'GGGarth' due to his mild stutter. ''Low'' is the sixth studio album by American thrash metal band Testament (band), Testament, released on September 30, 1994. It was the band's first album to feature a new lineup, with guitarist James Murphy (guitarist), James Murphy and drummer John Tempesta replacing Alex Skolnick and Louie Clemente respectively. Shimmer (Surgery Album)
''Shimmer'' is the second and final album by Surgery. It was released in 1994 through Atlantic Records. Due to the death of frontman Sean McDonnell nine months after the album's release, the band broke up. Critical reception ''The New York Times'' wrote that Surgery "operates in the low end of rock's frequency spectrum, bringing the bass to the center of their sound, rarely hitting the high strings on the guitar, and churning out music that values density over melody." Hungry For Stink
''Hungry for Stink'' is the fourth studio album by L7, released in July 1994 by Slash Records. The album peaked at number 117 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, as well as number 2 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. "Fuel My Fire" was based on the Cosmic Psychos song "Lost Cause", and was covered by The Prodigy on their 1997 album ''The Fat of the Land''. ''The Independent'' reported that the album's name ''Hungry for Stink'' was derived from an advert the band saw in Bear Magazine, a gay publication "for and about big hairy men". Critical reception AllMusic reviewer Stephen Thomas Erlewine noted that "While L7 sounds tremendous on ''Hungry for Stink'', the band has neglected to write any songs", but added "But when you're caught in the middle of a massive guitar grind this good, songs don't matter much." Houdini (album)
''Houdini'' is the fifth studio album by the Melvins, released in 1993 on Atlantic Records. The album was the band's major label debut after releasing their previous albums on the independent label Boner Records. The album features a cover of the 1974 Kiss song "Goin' Blind". The songs "Hooch", "Lizzy" and "Honey Bucket" were released as singles with accompanying music videos. "Night Goat" is a partial re-recording of a song the band had released as a single in 1992. Nirvana's Kurt Cobain is given co-production credit alongside the Melvins on six tracks, for guitar on the song "Sky Pup" and percussion on the song "Spread Eagle Beagle". Background and recording Kurt Cobain was accepted by Melvins as a producer to the album after an A&R at Atlantic Records, who also ran Cobain's management company, suggested him. Jack Richardson (record Producer)
Jack Arnold Richardson CM (23 July 1929 – 13 May 2011) was a Juno Award-nominated Canadian record producer and Order of Canada recipient. He is perhaps best known for producing the biggest hit records from The Guess Who from 1969 to 1975. He was part of the faculty at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario as an educator in the Music Industry Arts program for almost 20 years, as well as at the Harris Institute for the Arts in Toronto, Ontario. His son is well-known record producer Garth Richardson. Biography Richardson was born in Toronto, Ontario, and had early musical training playing in various school bands. Voodoo Glow Skulls are an American ska punk band formed in 1988 in Riverside, California, by brothers Frank, Eddie, and Jorge Casillas and their longtime friend Jerry O'Neill. Voodoo Glow Skulls first played at backyard parties and later at Spanky's Café in their hometown of Riverside, where they played shows with the Angry Samoans, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Firehose, Murphy's Law, and The Dickies. Ugly Kid Joe is an American hard rock band from Isla Vista, California, formed in 1989. The band's name spoofs the glam metal band Pretty Boy Floyd's name. To date, Ugly Kid Joe have released five full-length albums, two compilation albums and two EPs. Testament is an American Thrash metal, thrash metal band from Berkeley, California. Formed in 1983 under the name Legacy, the band's current lineup comprises rhythm guitarist Eric Peterson (musician), Eric Peterson, lead vocalist Chuck Billy (vocalist), Chuck Billy, lead guitarist Alex Skolnick, bassist Steve Di Giorgio and drummer Dave Lombardo.
