Arthur Getz
Arthur Kimmig Getz (May 17, 1913 – January 19, 1996) was an American illustrator best known for his fifty-year career as a cover artist for ''The New Yorker'' magazine. Between 1938 and 1988, two hundred and thirteen Getz covers appeared on ''The New Yorker'', making Getz the most prolific ''New Yorker'' cover artist of the twentieth century. Getz was also a fine artist, painted murals for the Works Progress Administration Program, wrote and illustrated children's books, and taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the University of Connecticut, and the Washington Art Association in Washington, Connecticut. Stan Getz
Stanley Getz (February 2, 1927 – June 6, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist. Playing primarily the tenor saxophone, Getz was known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone, with his prime influence being the wispy, mellow timbre of his idol, Lester Young. Coming to prominence in the late 1940s with Woody Herman's big band, Getz is described by critic Scott Yanow as "one of the all-time great tenor saxophonists". Getz performed in bebop and cool jazz groups. Influenced by João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim, he also helped popularize bossa nova in the United States with the hit 1964 single "The Girl from Ipanema". Yehuda Getz
Yehuda Getz (born 1924 in Tunis, Tunisia—died 17 September 1995 in Jerusalem) was the rabbi of the Western Wall for 27 years. Biography Yehuda Meir Getz was born in Tunisia in 1924. He immigrated to Israel in 1949, settling in Kerem Ben Zimra, a moshav in Upper Galilee. He joined the Israel Defense Forces, rising to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. Getz died of a heart attack on 17 September 1995. He was survived by his wife and six children, and is buried on the Mount of Olives. Bernhard Getz (21 March 1850 – 1 November 1901) was a Norwegian judge, professor, law reformer and Mayor of Oslo. He was born at Strinda in Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. He was the son of merchant Anton Lauritz Getz (1817–68) and Anna Christence Jenssen (1825–94). He graduated artium at Trondheim Cathedral School in 1868. He traveled abroad with public scholarships in 1875, stayed for the most part in Leipzig to study criminal law and legal proceedings. In 1876, Getz was appointed professor of law at the University of Kristiania. He took his law degree in 1889 at the University of Copenhagen. From 1889 to 1901 he served as the first Norwegian Director of Public Prosecutions. From 1891 he led the National Civil Procedure Law Commission.
