George Randolph Chester
George Randolph Chester (January 27, 1869 – February 26, 1924) was an American writer and screenwriter, film editor, and director. Biography Chester was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on January 27, 1869. He was the author of such popular works such as '' Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford'' and '' Five Thousand an Hour: How Johnny Gamble Won the Heiress'' that were made into silent films within his lifetime. His success in selling stories to ''The Saturday Evening Post'' and leaving his position with the ''Cincinnati Enquirer'' and moving to New York City to write fiction was the impetus for James Bearsley Hendryx to buy a typewriter and try his hand at writing fiction. Fred Niblo (born Frederick Liedtke; January 6, 1874 – November 11, 1948) was an American pioneer film actor, director and producer. Biography He was born Frederick Liedtke (several sources give "Frederico Nobile", apparently erroneously) in York, Nebraska to a French mother and a father who had served as a captain in the American Civil War and was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. Using the stage name Fred Niblo, Liedtke began his show business career performing in vaudeville and in live theater. After more than 20 years doing live performing as a monologist, during which he traveled extensively around the globe, he worked in Australia from 1912 through 1915, where he turned to the burgeoning motion picture industry and made his first two films. William Haines
Charles William Haines (January 2, 1900 – December 26, 1973) was an American actor and interior designer. Haines was discovered by a talent scout and signed with Goldwyn Pictures in 1922. His career gained momentum when he received favorable reviews for his role in '' The Midnight Express''. He was cast in the 1926 film '' Brown of Harvard'' and his performance solidified his screen persona as a wisecracking, arrogant leading man. By the end of the 1920s, Haines had appeared in a string of successful films and was a popular box-office draw. Haines' acting career was cut short by the studios in the 1930s due to his refusal to deny his homosexuality.
