Geschwister Pfister
The Pfister Siblings () is a Swiss-German comedy band founded in Berlin in the early 1990s. Their music incorporates elements of folk, pop, bossa nova, vaudeville, swing, and yodeling. In 2022, ''Mannschraft Magazin'' described them as a " queer music cabaret trio." Formation In the 1990s, actors Christopher Marti, Tobias Bonn, Max Gertsch, and Lilian Naef formed the group at the Schiller Theater. They created fictional personas as 4 orphan siblings from Zermatt, Switzerland. Music In 2009, they released ''In The Clinic'', which includes a cover of Esther & Abi Ofarim's 1968 novelty single, "Cinderella Rockefella," performed by two men. The album also includes an a cappella version of "Spider Pig," a brief song sung by Homer Simpson in 2007 film ''The Simpsons Movie'', which in turn is a parody of the Spider-Man theme song. Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the American animated sitcom ''The Simpsons''. He is voiced by Dan Castellaneta and first appeared, along with the rest of his family, in ''The Tracey Ullman Show'' short "Good Night" on April 19, 1987. Palast Orchester
The Palast Orchester (literal translation, Palace Orchestra) is a German orchestra, based in Berlin, constituted in the manner of dance bands of the 1920s and 1930s. Its repertoire specialises in cabaret and popular songs of the Weimar period in Germany and in American popular songs of the same era. The orchestra performs around 120 concerts per year. History Max Raabe founded the orchestra with fellow students at the Berlin University of the Arts in 1985. The ensemble initially used music arrangements that Raabe found whilst shopping at various flea markets. The orchestra worked for one year on learning these arrangements without any public engagements or performances. The orchestra gave its first public performance at the 1987 Berlin Theaterball, in the lobby as a secondary act, but with such success that the audience left the ballroom to hear the orchestra's performance in the lobby. Max Raabe
Max Raabe (born Matthias Otto, 12 December 1962) is a German jazz singer. He is best known as the founder and leader of the Palast Orchester. Career Raabe developed an interest in the sound of German dance and film music of the 1920s and 1930s, such as the songs of the Comedian Harmonists, from seeing old films on television and from his parents' record collection. He formally studied music at the Berlin University of the Arts, intending originally to become a baritone opera singer. He and eleven other students formed the Palast Orchester in 1985. Magic Matterhorn (1995) is an essayistic documentary by Swiss director Anka Schmid about the meaning of ones homeland, its clichés and reality. The mountain Matterhorn is the starting point for the portrayal of a ‚part-time‘ farmer from the Swiss mountain village Zermatt, a professional Swiss yodeler in Disneyland, California and the cabaret group called '' Geschwister Pfister''. Storyline In a playful manner the film embarks on the search for contemporary notions of homeland and shows real and surreal worlds.
