Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring
The Ringelband Foundation has been awarding the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring with the city of Bensheim and the German Academy of the Performing Arts since 1986. The award is endowed with €10,000. The jury is annually changing. The prize is awarded for an outstanding performance in the theatre. The theatre critic Wilhelm Ringelband, who died in Bensheim in 1981, donated the prize. Ringelband wanted the name of the Max Reinhardt actress Gertrud Eysoldt (1870–1955) he admired to be associated with an award. The Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring is one of the most important theatre awards in German-speaking countries. Deutsche Akademie Der Darstellenden Künste
The Deutsche Akademie der Darstellenden Künste (German Academy of the Performing Arts) is an academy founded in Hamburg in 1956, representing members from theatre, film, television and radio. Their activities and events are supported by foundations, the public sector, broadcasters and sponsors. The location moved to Frankfurt in 1962, and to Bensheim in 2004. The academy awards prizes including the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring and the Förderpreis für Regie. History Erwin Piscator was the first president of the academy, which was conceived as workshop and for education, but the teaching aspect was not realised. It was first based in Hamburg. Jutta Lampe
Jutta Lampe (13 December 19373 December 2020) was a German actress on stage and in film. She was for 30 years a leading actress at the Schaubühne founded in Berlin by her husband Peter Stein, where she played both classical theatre such as Alkmene in Kleist's ''Amphitryon'', and world premieres including Robert Wilson's ''Orlando'' for one actor, and roles that Botho Strauß created for her. She was also engaged at the Vienna Burgtheater and the Schauspielhaus Zürich. She appeared in more than twenty films from 1963, including lead roles in films by Margarethe von Trotta. Jürgen Holtz (10 August 193221 June 2020) was a German actor on stage and in film, and an artist and author. On stage he played leading roles in East Berlin, including with the Berliner Ensemble, and from 1983 in the West, in both classics such as Shakespeare and Brecht, whose Galileo he played at age 86, and contemporary theatre, such as the title role in the premiere of ''Moritz Tassow'' by Peter Hacks. Bensheim
Bensheim () is a town in the Bergstraße district in southern Hessen, Germany. Bensheim lies on the Bergstraße and at the edge of the Odenwald mountains while at the same time having an open view over the Rhine plain. With about 40,000 inhabitants (2016), it is the district's biggest town. Gert Voss (10 October 1941 – 13 July 2014) was a German actor. He was known for his roles in ''Labyrinth of Lies'' (2014), ''Sometime in August'' (2009) and ' (1987). He was member of the ensemble of the Burgtheater, and a ''Kammerschauspieler''. Life Gert Voss was born in Shanghai, China, to Wilhelm Voss, an import/export merchant, and his wife Marion (née Steinhütte). He lived in China until 1948 after which the family moved to a residence near Lake Constance. Friedrich Hans Ulrich Mühe (; 20 June 1953 – 22 July 2007) was a German film, television and theatre actor. Wilhelm Ringelband
Wilhelm Ringelband (1921–1981) was a German theater critic and endower of the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring. The actress Gertrud Eysoldt was a close friend and adviser to him. When Ringelband died, he left extensive archives of German film- and theatre history including a collection of pictures. The archive is located in Bensheim where Ringelband lived until his death. Hans-Michael Rehberg
Hans-Michael Rehberg (2 April 1938 – 7 November 2017) was a German actor. Biography Rehberg, born in Fürstenwalde, Brandenburg, was one of six children. He grew up in Bavaria after the family moved to Lake Starnberg. After training as an actor at the Folkwang School in Essen from 1956 to 1958, his professional career began at the Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach. He soon came to the Residenztheater in Munich, where he was appointed Bavarian State Actor at the age of 30. In 1973 he moved to the Münchner Kammerspiele, in 1975 to the Schauspielhaus Hamburg. The versatile actor was present in theater, television and cinema. Rehberg was also active as a director and has received several awards for his work.
