Gert Munch Larsen (born 9 February 1960 in Hvidovre) is a Danish curler and curling coach. At the international level, he is a . At the national level, he is a ten-time Danish men's champion curler (1979, 1982, 1987, 1988, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001) and a two-time Danish mixed champion curler (2001, 2002). He participated at the demonstration event at the 1988 Winter Olympics, where Danish men's team finished sixth. As a coach of Danish women's curling team he participated at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where Danish women's team finished sixth. Awards *Collie Campbell Memorial Award: 1994. Hvidovre
Hvidovre is the main town in Hvidovre Municipality, Denmark. The town, a suburb of Copenhagen, is about 10 km southwest of the capital's center. It is the 2nd biggest suburb of Copenhagen, only beaten by Frederiksberg. History Hvidovre has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1929, a 3,500-year-old sword from the Bronze Age was excavated in Hvidovre. A farm, Ovre (Aworthe), was located in the area in about 1170 when Esbern Snare gave it to Sorø Abbey that later passed it on to Bishop Absalon. A church was built during the Romanesque period. The name Hvidovre, meaning White Ovre, refers to the colour of the church, which was built in white chalk, as opposed to the one in Rødovre, Red Ovre, which was built in red brick. Hvidovre did not become a real village until the mid 1600s. In 1682 Hvidovre consisted of 18 farms and 14 houses without any agricultural land. Back then only a few crops were grown in the area. Ulrik Schmidt (born 19 August 1962) is a Denmark, Danish curling, curler. He currently skips the Danish national team, while he throws third stones. Schmidt's first international appearance was at the 1984 World Junior Curling Championships, where he skipped the Danish team to a 9th-place finish. He was then picked up by Sören Bang to play lead at the 1987 European Curling Championships, placing fourth. He was the team's alternate at the 1991 Euros, skipped by Gert Larsen, placing 6th. Schmidt skipped his own team beginning in 1996. That season, he finished 5th at the European Championships and 6th at the 1997 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. Later that year, he won a silver medal at the 1997 European Championships, where he lost to Germany (skipped by Andy Kapp) in the final. Mikkel Munch Krause (born 2 October, 1988) is a Danish curler from Hvidovre. He is a former World Junior champion. Curling career Junior As a junior curler, Krause represented Denmark at seven World Junior Curling Championships. His first was in 2004, when he played second on a team skipped by Kenneth Jørgensen. The team finished 2–7 at the tournament, finishing in last place. At the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships, he was the alternate on the team but played in six games. The team improved, finishing with a 4–5 record, tied for fifth. At the 2006 World Junior Curling Championships, he played third on the team, now skipped by Rasmus Stjerne.
