Gerry Gazzard
Gerald Gazzard (15 March 1925 – 29 September 2006) was an English footballer who played for West Ham United and Brentford. Gazzard was born in Cinderford, Gloucestershire and having previously played as an amateur for Penzance, and made 20 appearances for the County of Cornwall XI, Gazzard signed pro forms at West Ham United in May 1949. He made his debut on the first day of the 1949–50 season, against Luton Town, and played in a total of 37 games that season. He played in 41 games in 1950–51, one game short of being an ever-present. Gazzard moved to Brentford in 1954, after sustaining a cartilage injury and losing his first team place to John Dick. He later returned to Penzance as an amateur. Cinderford
Cinderford is a town and civil parish on the eastern fringe of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. The population was 8,777 at the 2021 Census. The town came into existence in the 19th century, following the rapid expansion of Cinderford Ironworks and the Forest of Dean Coalfield. Cinderford's origins can be seen in the style and layout of the town, with long rows of identical terraced housing similar to those found in the mining villages of the South Wales Valleys. The decline of the coal industry in the 1950s and 1960s affected Cinderford as most of the male population was employed in mining. John Dick (1930-2000)
John Hart Dick (19 March 1930 – September 2000) was a Scottish footballer who played for Crittall Athletic, West Ham United, Brentford, Gravesend & Northfleet and a single appearance for Scotland. Career Born in Glasgow, he became a prolific goalscorer and became the first West Ham United player to play for the Scottish national team. He joined West Ham from Crittall Athletic while on national service. Between 1953 and 1962, Dick made 364 appearances for the club, mainly at inside left. He scored 176 goals for West Ham in all competitions, placing him joint third on the club's all-time top scorers list. He eventually moved to Brentford for an incoming record £17,500 transfer fee. He was later in charge of West Ham Juniors. Dick died in September 2000. International career Dick made one appearance for Scotland, against England at Wembley Stadium in 1959. Somerset County Cricket Club
Somerset County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Somerset. Founded in 1875, Somerset was initially regarded as a minor county until official first-class status was acquired in 1895. Carl Gazzard
Carl Gazzard (born 15 April 1982) is an English former cricketer who played for Somerset. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. He made his debut for Cornwall in 1998 and was their regular wicket-keeper in 1998 and 1999. He also made his debut for Somerset 2nd XI in 1998, his first-class debut in 2002 and his Championship debut in 2003. He became the regular wicket-keeper late in 2005 after the retirement of Robert Turner and was in the 2005 Twenty20 winning side as Somerset beat Lancashire at the Brit Oval, in the match he took two catches and a run out. In the semi-final against Leicestershire, Gazzard impressed with his excellent glovework making two key stumpings and a run out, also he hit 16 off the penultimate over therefore receiving the man of the match award. A poor start to the 2006 season in which he scored only 305 first-class runs at 15.25 in thirteen matches led to him being dropped from the Somerset first team for Sam Spurway to take his place. Cartilage is a resilient and smooth type of connective tissue.
