Gerry Fisher
Gerry Fisher, B.S.C. (23 June 1926 – 2 December 2014) was an English cinematographer. Biography He was born in London in 1926. Early employment by Kodak and De Havilland Aircraft was followed by service in the Royal Navy during WW II. Fisher then worked as a clapper boy at Alliance Riverside Studios, Twickenham, and as assistant cameraman on documentaries for Wessex Films, before becoming a Focus puller at Shepperton Studios. After years in this capacity on films such as ''An Inspector Calls'' (1954), he was promoted to camera operator on ''Bridge on the River Kwai'' (1957), before finally becoming director of photography on Joseph Losey's ''Accident'' (1967). He collaborated with Losey on a further seven films, including '' The Go-Between'' in 1971. In 1976 Fisher was nominated for the Best Cinematography Award by the British Society of Cinematographers, for '' Aces High'', and in 1977 was nominated for a BAFTA Award for the same film. Joseph Losey
Joseph Walton Losey III (; January 14, 1909 – June 22, 1984) was an American theatre and film director, producer, and screenwriter. Born in Wisconsin, he studied in Germany with Bertolt Brecht and then returned to the United States. Blacklisted by Hollywood in the 1950s, he moved to Europe where he made the remainder of his films, mostly in the United Kingdom. Among the most critically and commercially successful were the films with screenplays by Harold Pinter: ''The Servant'' (1963) and ''The Go-Between'' (1971). Losey's 1976 film ''Monsieur Klein'' won the César Awards for Best Film and Best Director. William Peter Blatty
William Peter Blatty (January 7, 1928 – January 12, 2017) was an American writer, director and producer. He is best known for his 1971 novel, ''The Exorcist'', and for his 1974 screenplay for the film adaptation of the same name. Blatty won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for ''The Exorcist'', and was nominated for Best Picture as its producer. The film also earned Blatty a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama as producer. The César Award is the national film award of France. It is delivered in the ' ceremony and was first awarded in 1976. The nominations are selected by the members of twelve categories of filmmaking professionals and supported by the French Ministry of Culture. The nationally televised award ceremony is held in Paris each year in February. The exact location has changed over the years (in the Théâtre du Châtelet from 2002 to 2016). It is an initiative of the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, which was founded in 1975. ''Aces High'' is a 1976 war film starring Malcolm McDowell, Peter Firth, Christopher Plummer and Simon Ward. The film, which is an Anglo-French production, is based on the 1928 play ''Journey's End'' by R. C. Sherriff with additional material from the memoir ''Sagittarius Rising'' by Cecil Lewis. It was directed by Jack Gold. The screenplay was written by Howard Barker. The British Society of Cinematographers (abbreviated B.S.C. or BSC) was formed in 1949 by Bert Easey (23 August 1901 – 28 February 1973), the then head of the Denham and Pinewood studio camera departments, to represent British cinematographers in the British film industry.
