The Germany women's national artistic gymnastics team represents Germany in FIG international competitions. History Germany has participated in the Olympic Games women's team competition nine times (twice as the United Team of Germany). They have won one medal, a gold in 1936. European Gymnastics is one of five continental unions that represents the interests of Europe in the International Gymnastics Federation (french: Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique or ''FIG''). At the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, nine events in gymnastics were contested. Finland led all nations with six gold medals and ten medals overall. Shortly after the Czechoslovak team arrived in London, 22 year old team member Eliška Misáková was taken ill and confined to an iron lung. She died of infantile paralysis on the same day that her teammates competed. When the Czechoslovak flag was raised at the medal ceremony, it was bordered with a black ribbon. Sarah Voss (born 21 October 1999) is a German artistic gymnast. She represented Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She is the 2019 and 2022 German all-around national champion and competed in the 2018 and 2019 World Championships. She was part of the bronze medal-winning German team at the 2022 European Championships. Personal life Voss was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1999. She currently resides in Dormagen and trains at TZ DSHS Köln. Gymnastics career 2015 Voss turned senior in 2015 and competed at the German National Championships where she placed sixth in the all-around, fifth on uneven bars, and sixth on floor exercise. In October she competed at the Worlds Selection Trials where she once again placed sixth in the all-around but was not named to the team to compete at the 2015 World Championships. Elisabeth Seitz
Elisabeth Seitz (born 4 November 1993) is a German artistic gymnast. She is the 2022 European champion and the 2018 World bronze medalist on the uneven bars. She is one of the only female gymnasts in history to compete the Def (full-twisting Gienger) release, and her eponymous skill, a full-twisting Maloney. Seitz has also had success in the individual all-around event, where she is the 2011 European silver medalist and an eight-time German national champion (2010–13, 2015, 2017–18, 2021). She is a three-time Olympian, representing Germany at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where she led her team to a sixth-place finish and placed fourth in the uneven bars final, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
