Germany In The Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Germany participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "No No Never" written by Jane Comerford. The song was performed by Texas Lightning. The German entry for the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece, was selected through the national final ''Der deutsche Vorentscheid 2006 – 50 Jahre Grand Prix'', organised by the German broadcaster ARD in collaboration with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). The national final took place on 9 March 2006 and featured three competing acts with the winner being selected through public voting. Texas Lightning (band)
Texas Lightning is a German quintet from Hamburg which fits in the country music genre and describes itself as old fashioned and hip. Their music is a mix of country and pop drawing from country classic stars like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette and pop stars such as ABBA, Nancy Sinatra, Linda Ronstadt, Madonna, Michael Jackson and the Beatles, performed with some country humour. Corinna May (born 6 October 1970 in Bremen, Germany as Corinna Meyer) is a blind singer from Germany. She is best known for competing in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "I Can't Live Without Music". Career From an early age she was interested in music due to her father's love of jazz. She also sang in a school choir and a gospel choir. After several talent competitions, May could release her first album in 1997; a jazz album, produced by herself. The Eurovision Song Contest 2001 was the 46th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following the country's victory at the with the song " Fly on the Wings of Love" by Olsen Brothers. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR), the contest was held at the Parken Stadium on 12 May 2001. Tanja Gisela Hewer (born 15 February 1972), known by the stage name Michelle, is a German schlager singer. The Eurovision Song Contest 1986 was the 31st edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Mary Roos (born Rosemarie Schwab on 9 January 1949) is a German singer and actress. Biography 1949-1970 Schwab was born in Bingen. At the age of nine, she recorded her first song "Ja die Dicken sind ja so gemütlich" as ''Die kleine Rosemarie''. It was no major commercial success. Germany was present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1975, held in Stockholm, Sweden. The German national final to select their entry, ''Vorentscheid 1975: Ein Lied für Stockholm'', was held on 3 February at the Hessischer Rundfunk Studio 1 in Frankfurt am Main, and was hosted by journalist Karin Tietze-Ludwig, already well known for hosting the international preview "Auftakt für Brighton" a year before. Fifteen songs made it to the national final, which was broadcast by Hessischer Rundfunk to ARD broadcasters across West Germany. The winner was decided by nine regional juries with four members each. Joy Fleming
Joy Fleming (born Erna Raad, 15 November 1944 – 27 September 2017) was a German singer. She is best known for her performance in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975. She performed the song " Ein Lied kann eine Brücke sein" and was placed seventeenth out of nineteen countries. Despite its relatively low placing, the song has become popular amongst many Eurovision fans. She had a hit Disco record with the song and album "The Final Thing" in 1978 on Atlantic Records in the U.S. This was a covered song by the original artist Steve Bender (a member of the German Disco Group Dschinghis Khan) who also did the first version in 1976. Georg Uecker (born 6 November 1962 in Munich) is a German actor. Since 1985, he has played the character of ''Dr. Carsten Flöter'' on the popular German TV series Lindenstraße on ARD. Controversially, in 1987, he kissed ''Gert Weinbauer'' (played by actor Günter Barton). This was the first gay kiss in a German series in the evening.
