German School Of San Salvador
The German School of San Salvador ( es, Escuela Alemana de San Salvador; german: Deutsche Schule San Salvador) is a K-12 private institution in Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador, in the San Salvador metropolitan area. History In 1958, the German Embassy in El Salvador founded the "Círculo Cultural Salvadoreño-Alemán" (German-Salvadoran Cultural Association), with the view to enhance the cultural exchange between Germany and El Salvador. When Dr. Gerd Jaspersen took the leadership of the Círculo Cultural in 1963, he envisioned a German School on Salvadoran soil. Antiguo Cuscatlán ''(colloquially known as Antiguo)'' is a municipality in the La Libertad Department (El Salvador), La Libertad department of El Salvador, and its eastern tip lays in San Salvador Department part of the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, southwest of San Salvador and southeast of Santa Tecla, El Salvador, Santa Tecla. San Salvador Metropolitan Area
The Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (''Área Metropolitana de San Salvador'' or ''AMSS'') is a metropolitan area formed by San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, and thirteen of its surrounding municipalities. It was instituted in 1993 through Legislative Decree No. 732 of the Law on Territorial Development and the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador and neighboring municipalities. The Act defines that, based on their urban development, these cities form a single urban unit. Since 1990, it was felt that urban development in the Municipality of San Salvador and neighboring municipalities was having a remarkable growth, and even be defined as a big city. Julio Adalberto Rivera Carballo (2 September 1921 – 29 July 1973) was a Salvadoran politician and military officer, who was the 34th President of El Salvador, in office from 1962 to 1967. Early life and career Rivera was born in Zacatecoluca, El Salvador. He was a military officer who helped to orchestrate a coup in 1961. From January to September of that year, he was a member of the Civic-Military Directory which ruled El Salvador at that time. In 1962 he was elected President for a 5-year term as the candidate of the National Conciliation Party.
