German Ice Hockey Federation
The German Ice Hockey Federation (), commonly abbreviated as DEB, is the governing federation of German ice hockey associations. It was established on 16 June 1963 in Krefeld. Until 1990 it served only the old Federal Republic of Germany and West Berlin. Until the establishment of the DEB, ice hockey was one of many different ice and winter sports overseen by the Deutschen Eissport-Verband. The German Ice Hockey Federation took over the responsibility for the supra-regional leagues (especially the Bundesliga) and for the national team. It became the additional West German representative in the International Ice Hockey Federation. Roman Neumayer
Roman Neumayer (1930/1931 – 23/24 December 2015) was a German ice hockey executive, coach and player. He served as the sport director of the German Ice Hockey Federation from 1970 to 1986, and as technical director for the International Ice Hockey Federation from 1986 to 1996. He received the Paul Loicq Award for service to international ice hockey, and his career was recognized by induction into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame. Early life Neumayer was born in the historical region of Bukovina in the Kingdom of Romania. He later moved westward and played ice hockey in Czechoslovakia and Austria. After retiring from playing, he became an ice hockey coach and tennis coach in Austria. Hockey career Neumayer served as the sport director of the German Ice Hockey Federation from 1970 to 1986. Tobias Abstreiter (born July 6, 1970) is a German former ice hockey centre. During his playing career he was described as a two-way player and a faceoff specialist. Professional career He started his career in 1987-88 with EV Landshut, playing there for six seasons until moving to EC Hedos München in 1993-94 and, in mid-season, to the Kölner Haie in 1994-95, playing on two consecutive championship teams. In 1997, he moved to TSV Erding for one season before transferring to the Kassel Huskies where he would go on to captain the team. Toni Söderholm
Toni Kristian Söderholm (born 14 April 1978) is a Finnish ice hockey coach and a retired ice hockey defenceman. He is the head coach of the German men's national team. Playing career A native of Finland's capital city of Helsinki, Söderholm played in the HIFK youth system in the early and mid-1990s before taking his game to North America. From 1995 to 1997, he attended Trinity College School in Ontario, then returned to HIFK for the 1997–98 season and headed across the Atlantic again to enroll at the University of Massachusetts. Franz Reindl (born 24 November 1954) is a retired professional ice hockey player who played in the German Bundesliga. He was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany. Reindl played for SC Riessersee his first 12 seasons of senior team hockey. His best offensive season was 1981-2 when he scored 102 points in 43 games. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The IIHF Hall of Fame was founded in 1997, and has been located within the Hockey Hall of Fame since 1998.
