Tempodrom
The Tempodrom (also referred to as Neues Tempodrom) is a multi-purpose event venue in Berlin. Founded by Irene Moessinger, it opened in 1980 next to the Berlin Wall on the west side of Potsdamer Platz, housed in a large circus tent. After several changes of location it is now housed in a permanent building in the Kreuzberg neighborhood. History Moessinger had recently become a nurse when she came into an 800,000 Deutsche Mark, mark inheritance from her father; it was this bequest that she used to start the Tempodrom in a circus tent. Her initial funds were quickly exhausted and the following year the Berlin Senate agreed to contribute funds to keep the operation going. The original location attracted noise complaints, and in 1985 the Tempodrom moved to a site in the Tiergarten (park), Tiergarten, where it remained until displaced by construction of the new German Chancellery. 2012 German Darts Championship
The 2012 German Darts Championship was the second of five PDC European Tour events on the 2012 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at the Tempodrom in Berlin, Germany, from 22–24 June 2012. It featured a field of 64 players and £82,100 in prize money, with £15,000 for the winner. Phil Taylor (darts player), Phil Taylor won the title, defeating Dave Chisnall 6–2 in the final. James Wilson (darts Player)
James Wilson (born 25 February 1972) is an English darts player who plays in the Professional Darts Corporation. Career BDO Wilson first rose to prominence in 2012 by winning several tournaments, rising to number four in the world and reaching the quarter-finals of the Winmau World Masters. Despite this, he was unseeded on his debut appearance at the World Championship and was drawn against top seed Stephen Bunting in round one, taking a 2–1 lead before eventually losing 2–3. Wilson followed up on his form in 2013, rising to second in the world and reaching the final of the World Masters beating Jan Dekker and Robbie Green en route to a 7–0 loss to Bunting. Later that year Wilson demolished Bunting 5–1 in the final of the Zuiderduin Masters. 2018 German Darts Championship
The 2018 German Darts Championship was the tenth of thirteen PDC European Tour events on the 2018 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at Halle 39, Hildesheim, Germany from 31 August–2 September 2018. It featured a field of 48 players and £135,000 in prize money, with £25,000 going to the winner. Peter Wright was the defending champion after defeating Michael van Gerwen 6–3 in the 2017 final, but he withdrew the day before the event. Van Gerwen won the event for the second time and his 27th European Tour title in total, beating James Wilson 8–6 in the final, and only dropping seven legs in the whole tournament. During the event, Dave Chisnall broke the record for the highest ever 3-dart average on the European Tour, with an average of 118.66 in his 6–0 defeat of Mark Webster in the second round. Jelle Klaasen
Jelle Klaasen (born 17 October 1984), nicknamed The Cobra, is a Dutch professional darts player who plays in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and World Darts Federation (WDF) events. In 2006, he became the youngest darts player to win the World Darts Championship, aged 21 at the time. He also is a Dutch Open champion. Since November 2022, he has been the leader of the World Darts Federation men's ranking. Alan Norris (darts Player)
Alan Norris (born 21 February 1972) is a former English darts player. He was the runner-up at the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship and also lost in the final of the 2012 Zuiderduin Masters, with Stephen Bunting prevailing on both occasions. In 2015, he switched to the PDC and, after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2016 World Championship, he was named the PDC Best Newcomer of the year. BDO career Norris won the 2007 Sweden National Championships, beating Daniel Larsson in the final. He had earlier reached the semi-finals of the Finnish Open. Justin Pipe
Justin Pipe (born 9 November 1971) is an English former professional darts player who has played in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He was a former top 10 player. Playing career Pipe was a boxer in his youth, and, as a staunch anti-smoker, he refused to play darts in local pubs as the cigarette smoke would make his eyes water. In 2007, a smoking ban was introduced to England which enabled him to restart his darts career. He first emerged at the 2008 UK Open as a pub qualifier. He defeated Geoff Wylie and Lionel Sams before losing 9–3 to James Wade in the third round. Following this performance, he joined the PDC Pro Tour and reached the same stage of the UK Open a year later, this time losing 9–5 against Andy Jenkins. Gary Anderson (born 22 December 1970) is a Scottish professional darts player, currently playing in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). The 2014 German Darts Championship was the first of eight PDC European Tour events on the 2014 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at Halle 39 in Hildesheim, Germany, between 31 January–2 February 2014. It featured a field of 48 players and £100,000 in prize money, with £20,000 going to the winner. Gary Anderson won his first and last European Tour event by defeating Justin Pipe 6–5 in the final. Beginning with this event, all European Tour events are streamed live and free on the PDC YouTube channel.
