German Cross Country Championships
The German Cross Country Championships (german: Deutsche Cross-Meisterschaften) is an annual cross country running competition that serves as Germany's national championship for the sport. It is usually held in March. It was first held in 1891 and featured a men's long course race only. The competition had a break during 1914 and 1918 due to World War I and it ceased to be held after 1937 as a result of World War II. Following the occupation and division of Germany, the two German states set up separate national cross country championships. The Western side of the country restarted the championship in 1947 and this formally became the West German Cross Country Championships upon the nation's creation in 1949. A women's race was introduced in 1954 and the programme expanded further with a men's short course race in 1961 and a women's long course race in 1970. Cross Country Running
Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain such as dirt or grass. The course, typically long, may include surfaces of grass and earth, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road and minor obstacles. It is both an individual and a team sport; runners are judged on individual times and teams by a points-scoring method. Both men and women of all ages compete in cross country, which usually takes place during autumn and winter, and can include weather conditions of rain, sleet, snow or hail, and a wide range of temperatures. Richard Ringer (born 27 February 1989 in Überlingen) is a German athlete specialising in long-distance and cross-country running. He won the bronze medal at the 2013 Summer Universiade, and finished fourth at the 2014 European Championships and fifth at the 2015 European Indoor Championships. Ingolstadt (, Austro-Bavarian language, Austro-Bavarian: ) is an Independent city#Germany, independent city on the Danube in Upper Bavaria with 139,553 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2022). Carsten Schlangen (born 31 December 1980) is a German middle distance runner who specialises in the 1500 metres. Born in Meppen, West Germany, his first major competition was the 2006 European Athletics Championships where he finished tenth in the heats of the 1500 m. He competed at the Internationales Stadionfest in 2006 – his first IAAF Golden League meeting. He reached the global stage in 2008 and just missed out on the 1500 m at the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships. He made it to the semi-finals of the 1500 m at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games but again closely missed out on making the final. Stockach
Stockach is a town in the district of Konstanz, in southern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Location It is situated in the Hegau region, about 5 km northwest of Lake Constance, 13 km north of Radolfzell and 25 km northwest of Konstanz. Ohrdruf, Thuringia
Ohrdruf () is a small town in the district of Gotha in the German state of Thuringia. It lies some 30 km southwest of Erfurt at the foot of the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest. The former municipalities Crawinkel, Gräfenhain and Wölfis were merged into Ohrdruf in January 2019.
