Gerardo Camps
Gerardo Camps Devesa (born 30 June 1963) is a Spanish politician who belongs to the People's Party (PP). Camps was born in Barcelona, Spain, and qualified in law. He is married with two children. He entered politics in the 1980s, serving as Provincial secretary of the Popular Alliance (the predecessor of the current PP) from 1984–1986 and Regional Secretary 1985–1986. He also served as Regional President of the party's youth wing. In 1993 he was elected to the Spanish Congress of Deputies representing Valencia province. In Congress, he served as PP spokesman on issues related to Social Security, serving for example on the Commission established by the Pact of Toledo which aimed to study the future viability of the Spanish pension system. He was re-elected to Congress in 1996 and 2000, but on the latter occasion, resigned after just one month after being named Secretary of State for Social Security. José Manuel Vela Bargues (1962 – 16 July 2022) was a Spanish economist and politician from the Valencian Community. Vela served as the Valencian from 22 June 2011 until his resignation on 30 November 2012. Vela was a member of the People's Party (PP). Biography Vela was born in Valencia in 1962. He attended the University of Valencia, where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in economic and business science. He later received a doctorate in economics from the University of Valencia. Vela was a professor of financial economics and accounting at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and was the vice-rector at Jaume I University. The People's Party ( es, Partido Popular ; known mostly by its acronym, PP ) is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Spain. The People's Party was a 1989 re-foundation of People's Alliance (AP), a party led by former minister of the dictatorship Manuel Fraga and founded back in 1976 as alliance of post-Francoist proto-parties.
