Gerard Nolst Trenité
Gerard Nolst Trenité (; 20 July 18709 October 1946), publishing under the pseudonym Charivarius, was a Dutch writer, teacher, and observer of the English language. Nolst Trenité is best known in the English-speaking world for his poem ''The Chaos'', which demonstrates many of the idiosyncrasies of English spelling and first appeared as an appendix to his 1920 textbook ''Drop Your Foreign Accent: engelsche uitspraakoefeningen''. The subtitle of the book means "English pronunciation exercises". Weakened from war and famine, Nolst Trenité died a year after the Netherlands in World War II#Liberation, Liberation at the age of 76. Education Nolst Trenité was the son of a Utrecht minister. After grammar school, he studied classical literature, law and political science at the University of Utrecht from 1890 to 1894, but did not complete any of these courses. Caricature
A caricature is a rendered image showing the features of its subject in a simplified or exaggerated way through sketching, pencil strokes, or other artistic drawings (compare to: cartoon). Caricatures can be either insulting or complimentary, and can serve a political purpose, be drawn solely for entertainment, or for a combination of both. Caricatures of politicians are commonly used in newspapers and news magazines as political cartoons, while caricatures of movie stars are often found in entertainment magazines. In literature, a ''caricature'' is a distorted representation of a person in a way that exaggeration, exaggerates some characteristics and oversimplifies others.
