Ger Manley
Ger Manley (born 13 January 1968) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Inniscarra, Midleton and Muskerry and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career Manley first played Gaelic football and hurling with the Inniscarra club. He won a Mid Cork JAFC title with the club in 1989, while he also lined out with the Muskerry divisional team as a dual player. Manley first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Cork minor team that won the 1985 All-Ireland MHC title. He progressed onto the under-21 team and was at centre-forward on the team that beat Kilkenny in the 1988 All-Ireland under-21 final. Manley made his senior team debut against Waterford during the 1987–88 league, however, it took a number of years before he established himself on the team. All-Ireland Junior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Junior Football Championship is a GAA competition involving four Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams. Prior to a change in competition structure in 2021, the competition was previously for all Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams in Ireland. In this previous format, the definition of what constituted a Junior player differed from county to county. In some, the junior team was the second team after the senior team. This meant that any players who had not played with the senior team could play with the junior team. In others, such as Cork and Kerry, players could only be chosen from clubs that played in junior or intermediate grades. These counties could not choose players from senior clubs, even if they were not on the senior county team. When a team won this championship, it had to pick a new team for the following year. 1988 All-Ireland Junior Football Championship
The 1988 All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship was the 58th staging of the All-Ireland Junior Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's second tier Gaelic football championship. Cork were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Meath in the All-Ireland home final. The All-Ireland final was played on 9 October 1988 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Meath and London, in what was their fourth meeting in the final and a first in 26 years. Meath won the match by 1-10 to 0-03 to claim their fourth championship title overall and a first title since 1962. Munster Junior Football Championship
The Munster Junior Football Championship is a gaelic football tournament between the six counties of Munster: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford. It is the third-tier county teams playing off in a single-elimination tournament with 2 quarter finals instead of 4 (as of 2014). The cup was first given to the winners in 1957. Kerry have won the most titles, 42 in all. The winner will play against the champions of the other provinces in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship. Slieve Bloom GAA
Slieve Bloom GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling club in County Laois, Ireland. Overview The club was founded in 1947 and the club colours are orange and white. The club grounds are located two miles from Mountrath off the mountain road to Clonaslee. The townland that the field is located in is called Deerpark and the grounds were once part of the Deerpark estate. The club obtained the grounds from the land commission when the estate was divided. Previous to that the club had operated from the sportsfield at Clonin, Mountrath and also from Rushin, Mountrath. In recent years the grounds have undergone extensive much needed improvements. The playing pitch was leveled and a perimeter fence was erected. Ballstoppers were erected at each end. The dressing rooms were built and now stand proudly overlooking the countryside. In Gaelic games, a manager or (in Irish) ''bainisteoir'' is involved in the direction and instruction of the on-field operations of a team. The role entails the application of sport tactics and strategies during the game itself, and usually entails substitution of players and other such actions as needed. At games, the manager may sometimes wear a bib with the word "manager" or "''bainisteoir''" adorning it. The 2007 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 77th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 21 April 2007 and ended on 2 September 2007. Tipperary GAA, Tipperary entered the championship as the 2006 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, defending champions. In some team sports, a selector is a member of a selection panel which chooses teams or individuals to represent a country or club or other representative team in sporting competitions. For example, a selector in cricket is an administrative position involved in choosing players to represent a particular team in a match. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
