''Home and Away'' is an Australian television soap opera. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that first appeared during 2008, by order of first appearance. They were all introduced by series producer Cameron Welsh. The 21st season of ''Home and Away'' began airing from 28 January 2008. Principal Martin Bartlett, played by Bob Baines was the first introduction of the year in February. Trent Dalzell as Axel Hay, David Downer as Ross Buckton and Celeste Dodwell as Melody Jones made their first appearances in March. Tessa James arrived as Nicole Franklin in April. Jordan Rodrigues and Oliver Davis joined the cast as Jai Fernandez and Oliver Phillips in May. Esther Anderson and Rebecca Breeds made their debuts as Charlie and Ruby Buckton in June. Home And Away
''Home and Away'' (often abbreviated as ''H&A'') is an Australian television soap opera. It was created by Alan Bateman and commenced broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. The soap opera was initially going to be called ''Refuge'', but the name was changed to the "friendlier" title of ''Home and Away'' once production began. The show premiered with a ninety-minute pilot episode (subsequently in re-runs and on VHS known as ''Home and Away: The Movie''). Since then, each subsequent episode has aired for a duration of twenty-two minutes. Paolo Giuseppe Pantano (born 23 February 1982), known professionally as Paul Pantano, is an Australian actor. Early life The son of Italian parents, Pantano was born and raised in the Sydney suburb of Glebe. He attended De La Salle College Ashfield. Career Pantano received his first role appearing on the series ''Police Rescue'', followed by a guest appearance in police drama series '' Water Rats''. Pantano appeared in the series again in 1998. This performance earned him the Young Actor's Award at the 40th Australian Film Institute Awards. Donald Fisher (Home And Away)
Donald Fisher is a fictional character in the Australian television soap opera '' Home and Away'' played by actor Norman Coburn as a regular character, from the soap's inception in 1988 to 2003. He acts as the main antagonist in the show's pilot episode, willing to go to any lengths to ensure local teen Bobby Simpson is locked up, however his character soon softens. Katherine Leigh Ritchie is an Australian actress, radio presenter and children's author, she remains best known for her long-running role as original character Sally Fletcher on the television soap opera '' Home and Away'', for which she won two Gold Logie awards. Sally Louise Fletcher (also Copeland and Keating) is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Kate Ritchie. Josh Quong Tart (born 18 September 1975 in Sydney) is an Australian actor. Early life Tart attended the McDonald College before he was accepted into National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1994, graduating in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Performing Arts. Miles "Milco" Copeland is a fictional character from the Australian Seven Network, Channel Seven soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Josh Quong Tart.
